Fortune Teller activities, or Cootie Catchers in the US, are a great childhood game remodeled to test mathematical skills. Check out our blog post (link in document) for further information. In this cootie catcher there are eight questions requiring students to generate the first three terms of a sequence given the rule . The corners of the cootie catcher indicated the differentiation which is to three levels (easy, medium and difficult) and the fourth corner is a “pot luck” section. This resource comes complete with instructions, ideas for stretch/challenge and two blank versions for challenging pupils to create their own. Gradient of a Function Easter Math Art

(1)
In this math art activity pupils need to identify the gradient (slope US) of a function, rearrangng where necessary from the implicit function to y=mx+c and hence identify the gradient. Pupils then shade all the squares with those answers in the colour stated. As a result pupils will have a picture of an Easter chick. There are** three different worksheets** of increasing difficultly, they are; Worksheet 1: There are 14 questions on finding the gradient from functions where Q1-14 the functions are already in the form y=mx+b (or mx+b=y) and one final question which requires rearranging to get the form y=mx+b Worksheet 2: There are 14 questions, the first 5 pupils find the gradient of functions already in the form y=mx+b and then the remaining questions they must rearrange with the last few giving fractions. Worksheet 3: There are 14 questions and pupils will need to rearrange them all. There are two versions of each worksheet, either condensed to one page as shown in the cover photo, or questions and colour grid split into two pages to give you the flexibility of just doing the questions on the worksheet before any colouring. Also included are a A4 version (UK buyers) and a letter size version (US buyers). Math Art combines the fun of colouring and the consolidation of mathematical skills . Is is ideal as a plenary activity to determine what learning has taken place, alternatively use to determine pupils prior knowledge to a topic and of course great for revision. Sequences & Series Revision Foldable

(1)
Sequences & Series Revision Foldable This resource includes two revision foldables for review of arithmetic and geometric sequences and series. An arithmetic sequence is defined as a sequence in which there is a common difference between terms. An geometric sequence is defined as a sequence in which there is a common ratio between consecutive terms i.e. every term is a constant multiple (common ratio) of the term preceding it. Foldables can be used as a revision or summary exercise at the end of a topic. As the answers are hidden pupils can use these to ‘test’ themselves or ask someone else such as a parent to test them. They also make a great addition to any class book, making it an interactive notebook. Please follow the printing instructions, selecting scale to fit. This resource includes an A4 size and a letter (US) size, please select the most appropriate for you. Thank you for looking, we hope the NumberLoving resources are useful to colleagues. GCSE 9-1 Equation of Tangents to Circle Question Grid Worksheets

(2)
GCSE 9-1 Equation of Tangents to Circle (Question Grid Worksheets) This question grid has two levels, the first level each circle has a centre of (0, 0) and level 2 is more challenging with different circle centres and pupils need to find the Tangent to the circle at a given point. This is relevant for the new GCSE 9-1 UK specification. Pupils will choose which level to work out and they select a square and answer that question. It can be played as a competitive game such as ‘noughts and crosses’. Pupils answer on their sticky-notes or in their colour, claiming the square. The first pupil to answer three questions in a row (correctly) is the winner. See our blog post here about similar ideas here. Thank you for looking. Exact trig values is new to the GCSE 9-1 specification. This resource is to support pupils in providing summary notes or a revision resource. This resource has been updated and there are now four folables in this download; covering different aspects to do e=with exact trigonometric values and trig graphs. The four foldables cover; Exact Trig Values; Pupils use the two triangles (one right angled and one equilateral) to determine the exact trig values using SOH CAH TOA. They will also need to use Pythagoras’ theorem to find the length of the hypotenuse. Trig Graphs: Pupils are required to recall and sketch the graphs of sin, cos and tan from -360° to 360° on the given axis. Exact Trig Values >90°; pupils use the exact trip values from the two triangles and use to calculate carefully chosen trig values e.g. sin 210°. Using Exact Trig Values; pupils use the trig values to complete sums of different trig values (therefore pupils need to be able to add/subtract fractions). Foldables can be used as a revision or summary exercise at the end of a topic. As the answers are hidden pupils can use these to ‘test’ themselves or ask someone else such as a parent to test them.
