This resource is an anthology of 180 unseen poetry questions for AQA GCSE English Literature (2017). There are 120 poems in the collection, organised by theme and with contents pages. There are 120 unseen question 1 tasks and 60 unseen question 2 tasks in the pack. While the latter is an expanded version suitable for all ability levels, this resource is a bright, colourful and concise version that can be laminated and used as a bookmark or guide alongside work. This is a complete set of 14 lessons on ‘Blood Brothers’, designed for KS4 students preparing for AQA English Literature. The lessons are broken down by song so no matter which version of the text you have copies of, it should be easy to follow. It covers the whole play and I used these lessons as an accompaniment to reading the text for the first time. Also included in this set is a copy of my best-selling Blood Brothers knowledge organiser, which is a great revision tool and can be used for setting homework. In addition to this, I have included my consolidation sheets for Act 1 and Act 2, which make a great independent revision activity. This is a creative lesson which gives pupils the opportunity to imagine they are producing their own version of Blood Brothers. From casting, lighting and scenery to story boarding pivotal moments, this was a really enjoyable lesson that helped students to visualise the play. I taught it after we had finished the whole text, and it was very well received by students!

This lesson focuses on getting students to form opinions of Mrs Lyons at the start of the play, and introducing them to the concepts of hero, antihero and villain. Students find evidence for their opinions in the text, and are exposed to sophisticated vocabulary to describe Mrs Lyons as they read.

I taught this lesson as a double, so there is plenty of material in here for a lively discussion about the importance of the themes and characters in 'Blood Brothers'. This lesson focuses on the question: who is responsible for the deaths of Mickey and Eddie? Students are asked to: -Rank characters in order of responsibility, and discuss their opinionS -Evaluate the importance of thematic and contextual factors, including: poverty, class, fate, superstition, nature and nurture. - Consolidate their knowledge on a worksheet and reflect on their final opinion.

I use this TEACH framework as an alternative to PEE paragraphs or other writing structures, as I find that it can be adapted for all ability levels and is more attuned to the new AQA GCSE literature mark scheme. Rather than being restrictive, it allows students to build to a more detailed analysis.
