This unit has been designed for Year 9 pupils to build confidence in sketching. Pupils learn about basic skills and build upon these each lesson. Pupils will use the DTDOT/DTMicroDOT when sketching in isometric. Applied activities include the design of earbud headphones, a hairdryer and a fragrance bottle. At the end of the unit pupils complete a product analysis on a three-pin plug.

A two-week design only project to study smart and modern materials with a focus on sketching, rendering and annotation. This resource contains: 2x PowerPoints of whole lesson. 2x Resource packs 1x Writing Frame for Lesson 1 Lesson 1: (Tip, keep the design a secret until the end i.e. they don't know why they are learning about smart and modern materials) Pupils rotate around tables in a carousel in order to learn about smart and modern materials. They begin to think about a sports glove design based around a very simple specification that they develop. Lesson 2: Pupils develop their initial design whilst learning about annotation and rendering. They focus deeply on material selection and their justifications for their choices.
