6 weeks of planning and resources for an “All About Me” topic, suitable for a Reception class. Based on the 2021 EYFS Development Matters document.
The topic is broken up in to 6 themes:
Week 1 - What Makes Me Special?
Week 2 - My Body
Week 3 - My Senses
Week 4 - My Feelings
Week 5 - Growing and Changing
Week 6 - My Home and Local Area
Each week has detailed planning for adult led sessions for the 7 areas of learning. There are 48 session plans altogether.
Each week also has ideas for enhancing the continuous provision across 10 areas of the learning environment, with over 200 ideas in total.
Where needed, resources to support these activities are included in the pack.
There are also 6 weekly newsletters included. These can be used to let parents/carers know what their child is learning and to suggest ideas that they may want to try at home.

This resource includes a fully editable planning document. It is supported by 30 PowerPoint sessions, ready for you to use each day. Each one follows the recap, teach, practise and apply sequence as recommended in Letters and Sounds.
There is a handy leaflet for parents that you can send home to encourage parental support.
There are printable activities and display materials to support what is taught in the lessons. Also included is a PowerPoint of assessment activities and Word grids to record the children’s achievements.
The PowerPoints use the Comic Sans font, except for the handwriting sections which are in Sassoon. Most other resources are also in Sassoon.

Simply put up a slide from the PowerPoint show each day, ready for the children to look at as they come in to the classroom.
Ask the children to use their imaginations, tackle design challenges and consider the properties of different materials.
Example questions:
Imagine that you have found a magic ticket. What could you use it for?
How many things can you think of that are spotty?
Can you design a new kit for a football player?
Who do you think each pair of shoes belongs to?
Make a list of things that roll.
Younger children could draw pictures to show their ideas while older children can write lists and sentences.
Also included is a grid showing the key learning objectives that will be covered for each year group. The Year 1 and 2 objectives are taken from the 2014 National Curriculum.
