This is a maths game which can be altered to fit the year group. I used this with a Year 3 class and they enjoyed it. I used it as a MOS for my lesson. Can be used as a Halloween themed resource or at any time! The file is pretty self explanatory, make up the target number (currently 24) from the resources available (8 legged spiders, 4 legged lizards, etc).

This resource is a way to visually represent subtraction involving borrowing, giving a real-life context and understanding to an otherwise abstract concept. Closed boxes of 10 chocolates represent tens, open boxes represent units. I have included the activity in SMART Notebook, ActivInspire and PowerPoint formats. I have also added large and small images of the boxes for use with children/on displays. As a practical alternative, 10 Numicons with marbles would work well to give the children a physical resource to accompany the activity. A guide to how I used the files is also included.

A PowerPoint containing key information on the Battle of Hastings, including events leading up to it, presented as a 'Top Secret' case file, with side-by-side comparisons of the Normans and Anglo-Saxons. Ideal to use at the start of the topic. There is only sound on the 2nd slide.

A range of resources for teaching Transport Now & Then. We used this as part of the Creative Learning Journey for Transport, but this could also be used in History. Disclaimer - I do not own the YouTube video!

Differentiated money adding (LA adding Shop notebook. Used with Catalogue (I went with that instead of labelling prices on the Notebook file as I think it will be much easier to adapt!). A range of questions to go with it (for my HA. LA will be finding the coins to pay for a single item, MA adding 2 items). I'm planning to chop mine up so they can choose themselves problems to attempt. Using mine with Yr3 but I&'m sure the shop would be handy for money in all year groups.

I used this as a short activity for a Year 3 class but it can be adapted to suit most classes. The Word document contains alliterative words to distribute to the children for the activity, which can then be shared using the Notebook document. Further details of how we used this resource is included in the Text document.

This was for a lesson in which half of the class walked around the school on a light source hunt. The other half did this activity, then swapped. At the end of the lesson, we made the classroom dark & sampled some extra light sources - candles, flash bulbs, torches, children's toys, etc.

The first page of the Notebook file shows the importance of answering questions in full. Move the orange bar to discover the answer. The second page is a section from The Three Little Pigs minus any punctuation.

A short story featuring words in the 'ear' word family for children to identify. Notebook document - there are 2 pages, one is a bit nicer but some people find it tricky to read, hence the plain version. Best used with the highlight tool.

Problem solving worksheets - subtraction, addition, multiplication and division word problems. All differentiated.

An interactive whiteboard resource teaching right angles and a simple worksheet for children to sort angles into categories using a Carroll diagram.

An example template for the IWB and templates for the children (can be used as an insert in an apology card). The higher ability children did not need a template and wrote directly into their card.

Doing a back-to-basics week with my lot, going over VCOP thoroughly! 1 weeks plans, all the worksheets for the week (differentiated), and a big Notebook document with the week's worth of explanations and examples. Loads of files here, let me know if anything isn&'t downloading right!

Notebook file - drag the road safety features onto the photo of a road (currently the road outside our school...change to your own local road for more personalisation!) Worksheet - higher ability, draw on road safety features and write a caption about each. lower ability, cut and stick chosen features onto photo of the road.

Plans for the week attached. Notebook file leads you through the activities, weeks worth in one doc (just look at the dates). It is mostly interactive activities for the class to use, plus worksheets & a bingo game. (It may be slight overkill with the examples, but I'd rather be prepared than be caught out needing more!) My word problems came from saveyoursundays.com with a bit of tweaking, didn&'t want to infringe on anyone so haven&';t posted everything I'm afraid!
