Resources and details for producing a free standing photo frame using a range of materials and processes to develop students skills, knowledge and understanding of a variety of techniques. Including marking out and accuracy, cutting wasting and drilling, vacuum forming, line bending, compression moulding, wood jointing, adhesives and finishes, use of CAD/CAM and laser cutting as well as a comparison between hand making and CAD/CAM techniques and the iterative design process, should you wish students to go on and design, develop and model their own design for the frame part of the products as a further skill building exercise. This project is design to use mainly offcuts of material in the main to keep material costs down and was developed as part of the ‘catch-up’ curriculum to deliver a varied range of skills and techniques to help prepare students for GCSE. Can be easily used as just a FPT or as an in depth project to suit needs of students.
Range of helpsheets to aid students through making a pencil box (or trinket box).
Detailed stage by stage photos and drawings of production to help build basic tool skills and promote independence of work. Covers measuring and accuracy, marking out, cutting joints, glueing, surface finish, jigs and guides. Finished with a CAD/CAM lid. Includes basic and advanced version using different techniques, cutting list, photos stage by stage with short clear instructions, stage by stage drawings and details for required jigs and guides. Print and laminate sheets for easy reference and use in workshop.
Series of ‘walkthrough’ helpsheets covering the essentials of using Solidworks software including - creating sketches, adding features, edge details, dimensioning, editing sketches and features, adding colour and texture, Part and Assembly drawings. Importing 2D Design files to create 3D models is also covered. Straight forward to use as a student friendly booklet or as individual helpsheets that can be laminated for easy clean and re-use. Quick and easy to follow to enable student to progress independently using the software to enhance their design and modelling work. A must have if new to Solidworks - saves time and money learning! Display sheets for wall also included.

2D Design drawings to make a set of Mitre Joint template jigs to help students mark out angles needed for basic shapes when using mitres for a frame. Includes Square/Rectangle, Pentagon, Hexagon and Equilateral Triangle. Drawings can be easily reproduced to the dimensions given and then are ready to laser cut in 6mm MDF. Simple push fit assembly requiring just PVA wood glue. Jigs can be located along wood to be marked and slid into position to aid marking the desired angle without the need to set/change setting of a sliding bevel. Time saving in a busy workshop.
