A noun that ends in ch, sh, x, s or ss needs ‘es’ added to make the plural. If the root word ends in a ‘y’ preceded by a vowel (a/e/i/o/u) just add ‘s’ to make the plural. If the root word ends in a ‘y’ preceded by a consonant, change the ‘y’ to an ‘i’ and add ‘es’.
