Get your children inspired for the 2019 cricket world cup with these fun cricket questions. The children have a series of mathematical questions to solve based on the data from the 2015 world cup (taken from (cricbuzz.com). The children have to use the data tables and solve a variety of mathematical challenges based on the cricket data. The work comes with an answer scheme to save you as the teacher time - the children can mark their own work. I have also included a link to the opening party which could be watched to inspire the pupils.

The children are then set different mathematical challenges based on the numerical values of the player ratings. It develop Numeracy skills such as: Finding the difference, calculating the mean (average), totaling, finding the SUM and more… Really engaging for those children who are mad about football. Brilliant for you the teacher as the mark scheme is included (could be printed and given to the children to self mark) and also has working on comments as a challenge!

(It does look a bit strange that some of the writing doesnt fit in the box properly on the LO but this is just in the preview, it will be all lined up when you download) Attached is the official FIFA rankings as of the 4th June 2018. The children must use this information to solve the variety of mathematical problems. Brilliant KS2 lesson in the run up to the world cup. I also did a follow up lesson where the children had to produce a bar chart of the top 5 teams in the world and then 5 teams of their choice - they absolutely loved it. This resource also includes a mark scheme and a feedback questions to reduce your workload! Enjoy! Once downloaded this is editable through microsoft word to make it easier/harder to suit your class.
