The resource focuses on memory and key facts about maximizing the rate of diffusion. I do a dissection during the lesson however is not necessary, the lesson moves onto looking at surface area to volume ration and concludes with an exit ticket.

The lesson starts with a simple assessment of students understanding of the concept of speed. The lesson then poses a GCSE question to challenge students before two different opportunities for the teacher to model how to calculate SDT. To assess the students learning I have embedded a hinge point question, this will redirect learning to the most appropriate task, e.g. gold, silver, bronze or the Purple extension. The lesson gives the student the opportunity to show of their new learning with a GCSE question before the lesson is concluded with an exit ticket.

Over arching concepts in biology. The lesson is part of a series of lessons that cover topic one of the new GCSE (to be sat in 2017). The lesson is a very challenging theory lesson based around enzymes. The lesson starts with looking at the enzymes and where in the body enzymes function. The pupils demonstrate their learning through a problem based learning activity where they look at case studies of enzyme deficiencies in patients. There is an exit ticket to finish.

The lesson starts with a 10 question recap quiz before looking at different ways to obtain drinking water. Students that have a look at the water cycle, led by the teacher, before students look at clouds in a practical way. Student then have a go at making water stills. The lesson returns to exam spec questions finishing with an exam question.

This is an ideal lesson to run after teaching the basics of animal and plant cells. The lesson is focused around a 6 mark GCSE-style exam questions. It is highly differentiated via Gold- Silver-Bronze tasks. It includes a hinge-point question to give the students the appropriate challenge or support in the build up task then an attempt at the answer before feedback based on model answer followed by a ‘green-pen’ opportunity to demonstrate improvements.

More lessons in the series are available on my premium resources - ScienceMastery The lesson starts with a series of questions to illicit prior understanding of the students. There is then an explanation of gravity and the calculations extensively modelled. After that the students get an opportunity to select from a series of tasks and opt to work, this is outcome differentiated via gold, silver, bronze tasks. The students then complete a hinge point question (AFL) that directs them to 1 of 3 differentiated tasks, there is a purple (high order thinking) task available for the students to move onto once their tasks are completed. The lesson concludes with an exit ticket and a rag of LO.

The lesson make much use of AFL and directs students to the most appropriate task. The lessons starts by describing different situations that diffusion takes place in. The understanding is then assessed by a hinge question with differentiated task as the outcome for this. The lesson moves on to discuss osmosis before assessing understanding and directing students to the most appropriate task. Active transport is reviewed before learning is concluded with an exit ticket.

Revision timetable and resource bank. To use: print and give to the students, put it up in the lab, send it home to parents or publish as an electric copy. QR codes and hyperlinked topic titles take the students to a revision resource (mostly BBC Bitesize), on most days there is a key diagram and a selection of subtopics to revise. This resource is designed to chunk the challenge of revision, giving students two months to revise every topic required for the mock exam that Edexcel are using to calibrate results. The calendar starts on the first of March and goes up until two days before the first exam. Revising is a vital skill that many teachers neglect to teach their pupils. Most students struggle to plan their revision and rely on pre-exam cramming, as these students will not sit their final exam this year we need to ensure we help them retain the information. Spreading it out like this makes it an achievable challenge and will help them with long-term retention.

The lesson starts with recall questions and then moves on to a thinking for learn activity. Students then watch a video and answer some questions based on the video before summerising their understanding. The students then do an exam style question before an exit ticket. I think the resource is good an will promote good learning however it is not as detailed as many of my other lessons so I have listed it for free..... enjoy.

I am very pleased with this series of lessons as it has inspired a difficult year 10 cohort and increased motivation in science.
