CB8 Edexcel 9-1 - Transport and exchange in animals

5 Resources
The bundle is made up of 4 lessons and a learning outcome sheet where student log progress they have made. Lessons include: CB8a: Exchange and lungs CB8b: Circulatory system CB8c: Heart CB8d: Respiration The lessons are big and a few of them could run over two.

The resource focuses on memory and key facts about maximizing the rate of diffusion. I do a dissection during the lesson however is not necessary, the lesson moves onto looking at surface area to volume ration and concludes with an exit ticket.

CB5 - Health and Disease - Edexcel 2016 (assessment, tracking and lessons)

12 Resources
Bundle includes Edexcel 9-1 - topic 5. This is a 10 lesson bundle of Edexcel 9-1 topic 5 Health and Disease lessons. Tracking, differentiation, assessment and AFL are build into the lessons. Lesson 0 - entry test Lesson 1 - health Lesson 2 - communicable disease Lesson 3 - spread and prevention of disease Lesson 4a - sexuallty transmitted disease Lesson 4b - chemical and physical barriers Lesson 5 - immune response Lesson 6 - antibiotics Lesson 7 - non-communicable disease Lesson 8 - obesity and BMI Lesson 9 - assessment and revision These are 'plug and play' lessons designed for ease of application and good to outstanding lessons. I am very pleased with this series of lessons as it has inspired a difficult year 10 cohort and increased motivation in science.

OFSTED rated Outstanding lesson on plant and animal cells

(2)
This is an ideal lesson to run after teaching the basics of animal and plant cells. The lesson is focused around a 6 mark GCSE-style exam questions. It is highly differentiated via Gold- Silver-Bronze tasks. It includes a hinge-point question to give the students the appropriate challenge or support in the build up task then an attempt at the answer before feedback based on model answer followed by a ‘green-pen’ opportunity to demonstrate improvements.
Osmosis, diffusion and active transport

Osmosis, diffusion and active transport

The lesson make much use of AFL and directs students to the most appropriate task. The lessons starts by describing different situations that diffusion takes place in. The understanding is then assessed by a hinge question with differentiated task as the outcome for this. The lesson moves on to discuss osmosis before assessing understanding and directing students to the most appropriate task. Active transport is reviewed before learning is concluded with an exit ticket.

CB1: Key Concepts in Biology Edexcel 9-1 - Whole scheme.

12 Resources
These 12 lessons aim to engage and promote progress in year 9-10 students. From experience and due to the importance of this topic I have broken down some of the topics within the module if they are of high importance as this ensures that learning takes place. The lessons specialise in AFL which is built in at appropriate places.
CB1f - revision - enzyme action

CB1f - revision - enzyme action

(1)
The lessons introduced the lock and key model before getting students to investigate a solutions in a problem based learning way. The students then have the opportunity to attempt a differentiated work sheet based on their confidence.
CB5h - Antibiotics - Edexcel 9-1 - Topic 5: Lesson 6 Antibiotics

CB5h - Antibiotics - Edexcel 9-1 - Topic 5: Lesson 6 Antibiotics

(0)
The lesson is specific the new Edexcel 9-1 GCSE and part of topic 5. The lesson starts with a review of the previous learning. Before a circus of information gathering, comprising of 4 tasks to help the students take ownership of their learning. The students the attempt a worksheet with an extension task built in to the lessons. The students finish the lesson with an exam question.
CB4b Edexcel 9-1- Antibiotic Resistance - Lesson 2

CB4b Edexcel 9-1- Antibiotic Resistance - Lesson 2

(0)
The lesson starts by reviewing the WHO concerns on antibiotic resistance before looking at how it works. After students see this they prepare a storyboard on antibiotic resistance. Students then attempt an outcome differentiated worksheet before a 3 mark exam question and review of that to end the lesson.

Cell specialism: sperm, egg and cilliated epithelial

(0)
The lesson starts with a presentation focus to ensure the students show pride in their work. It then moves in to introduce the main cells of the lesson: cilliated epithelial, sperm and egg. After a brief introduction to these there is a ten minute Kagan activity where students can gather information about the cell before sharing with their group. This rolls into a true or false hinge point question to direct learning via differentiated association squares. The learners solidify their understanding with a Cloze activity before finishing with an exit ticket.

This is a revision resource that encourages independence and learning of key outcomes. This would take a couple of lessons to complete as there are multiple tasks to improve understanding.

CB4d Edexcel 9-1- Genetically modified organisms - Lesson 7

(3)
The lesson starts by establishing a definition of GMO. It then moves on to reviewing a couple of videos with guided questions to promote thinking. The lesson looks to engage student in a paired research project in the exam board specific species before posing an exam question. This lesson is fine and will cover the learning outcomes however I do not believe it is worth buying, hence is listed for free. More lessons in the series are available on my premium resources - ScienceMastery The lesson starts with a series of questions to illicit prior understanding of the students. There is then an explanation of gravity and the calculations extensively modelled. After that the students get an opportunity to select from a series of tasks and opt to work, this is outcome differentiated via gold, silver, bronze tasks. The students then complete a hinge point question (AFL) that directs them to 1 of 3 differentiated tasks, there is a purple (high order thinking) task available for the students to move onto once their tasks are completed. The lesson concludes with an exit ticket and a rag of LO.

The lesson starts with recall questions and then moves on to a thinking for learn activity. Students then watch a video and answer some questions based on the video before summerising their understanding. The students then do an exam style question before an exit ticket. I think the resource is good an will promote good learning however it is not as detailed as many of my other lessons so I have listed it for free..... enjoy.
