An introduction to how public money is raised and spent for KS3 and KS4. This session looks at where the Government gets it's money and where it spends it. Students are invited to assess the fairness of both the tax system and the benefits system.

The British Constitution is a statutory part of the KS4 Citizenship curriculum. We've had loads of teachers ask us how to teach this particularly dry subject. Our answer - lots of short activities and a bit of competition. This topic takes 2 lessons - the first the class is split into two teams and they do a series of comprehension tasks - crosswords, memory match, true or false etc. These are done in competition with other students in the class. The second lesson is a debate - with clear roles and prompts. The students can stay in the same teams and compete against each other .
