Aimed at lower KS2 and designed to complement "Active Adverbs" this resource introduces pupils to abstract adverbs which they have more difficulty identifying as they do not appear to be directly connected to actions. The resource introduce pupils to adverbs using games and then has differentiated worksheets to allow pupils to put their learning into practice. There are also many ideas for further activities and adjective cards which can be used to further increase pupils' vocabulary.

It contains a ready made worksheet with answers and the opportunity to create your own resources based on buying items in a shop. There is a template shop where you can enter your own prices, or ask your pupils to price items. The question sheet has 3 levels of differentiation and suggestions for further activities. It can be used with the worksheet and with the template. Questions include finding the price of different items, working out what they can afford, calculating change and finding how the price is effected by a 10% sale. They will need to use addition, subtraction and multiplication and work out how to approach multi-step problems in order to complete the most challenging level of activity. Best of all, it is flexible so you can adjust the prices and make the problems easier or more challenging.

I have used these resources with Y5 and Y6 pupils and I could really see an improvement in their descriptive writing. The Text Analysis can form part of a whole class lesson or be used as an activity in Guided Reading. The resource contains teaching ideas and further activities as a well as text extracts from inspiring writers, Text Analysis and a Planning grid to help them to create their own fantasy characters. The advantage of fantasy is both that it engages most children and it forces them to use lots of description!

This resource will help pupils develop a systematic approach to solving a logic problem. The logic problem is a series of clues to help determine pupils scores in a Maths test. The differentiation is in the level of support given to pupils to help them solve the problem. There are 3 Recording Sheets, with A providing the most information for the L.A. and C the least for the most able pupils. These sheets also make pupils record their method, so you can see evidence of systematic work. There is a detailed answer sheet which explains the method, making marking easy! Pupils can then use the skills they have gained to create their own problem. A step by step guide is provided, with a Planning sheet and a Recording sheet. There are also extension ideas. Or you can use these resources to help create your own problems. Suitable for Y5 and 6, could also be used to extend able Y4 pupils.
