This resource can be used at the start of the year as a quick revision of the four different sentence types. Towards the end of the year use it to consolidate the year’s teaching.
Value your time, and smash your progress targets with our comprehension packs.
Download the sample pack for free. This contains examples of our comprehensions from Reception to Year 6.
With a range of text types, dedicated grammar and vocabulary tasks, textual analysis and comprehension questions, you will be all set for any reading block. And for those of you who need to track each child’s progress, our handy 5 and 7-page trackers will allow you to identify the reading skills taught and give you the evidence you need for your folder.
Five instructional PowerPoints including apostrophes (possession and contraction), homophones 2, soft ‘g,’ and adding the ible and able suffixes. This pack also includes four games including bingo, Word Surgery, a crossword and Explosion! To help show progress there is a student quiz with teachers’ answer guide.
Liven up old displays with these parts of speech posters covering common and proper nouns, abstract and collective nouns, verbs, adverbs, prepositions, interjections and conjunctions.
A great resource for encouraging children to use a range of thinking skills. These cards can be used with or without real hats and can be applied to any text. They are particularly useful for KS2.
These AfL cards are a quick and easy way to remember ways of assessing the children during lessons. Hole punch them and put them on a key ring as a constant reminder.
Use your detective skills to find the syllables and complete this match game in record time.
Syllable Search contains 9 words with 3-6 syllables and matching syllable number cards.

Parts of speech word searches for:
Spring
Summer
Autumn/Fall (separate versions)
Winter
Easter
Halloween
Thanksgiving
Christmas
Each theme contains two word searches. Word search 1 (easier) asks the children to find nouns. Word search 2 (harder) asks them to find nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs, and to categorise them correctly.
Each word search comes with an answer key showing the correct words and their locations in the grid.
This is a fun way for children to revise their parts of speech.

Fantastic for consolidating parts of speech knowledge. Use as:
- Morning registration starters
- Lesson starters
- Plenaries
- Intervention activities
Perfect for Years 5 and 6, or as a challenge activity for Year 4.

Get your children thinking about poetry terminology with this definitions game. Distribute the 25 cards amongst the class or group. Each card has a question (E.g. Who has another word for verse?) and an answer (E.g. I have stanza). The questions and answers follow each other around the room as pupils work out where their card fits into the sequence.
Definitions: acrostic, alliteration, assonance, ballad, couplet, free verse, haiku, half-rhyme, internal rhyme, kenning, limerick, metaphor, narrative poem, onomatopoeia, personification, rap, repetition, riddle, rhyme, rhyme pattern, shape poem, simile, sonnet, syllable, stanza
The cards are given in order so the teacher can keep a full copy as the answer sheet while pupils receive the cut up cards randomly.
