A structured presentation to support students in creating vivid description in their creative writing. This is focused on the Gothic Genre as part of a unit of work on Frankenstein. It includes examples of monster & villains from a range of sources with some annotation explaining why the techniques have been used. Tasks include: Starter - identifying 'classic' monsters and villains, description focusing on 'upgrading' the level of vocabulary and detail used building to an extended writing piece about their monster and then a paired activity to assess their description. Writing tasks can be differentiated with sentence starters, writing grids and teacher support.

Designed for GCSE students studying the Edexel Conflict Anthology - focusing on the context of the Vietnam War (including some thought provoking discussion points to align with PSHEE studies). * Includes differentiated extended response tasks (Challenge, Stretch, SuperStretch) as well as a highly scaffolded task to support lower ability classes. * Includes presentation notes for teacher to aid with delivery. *Includes examples of differences in interpretation.

These worksheets were created to assist my lower ability/EAL Year 8 class in working on the details of narrative fiction. Although structured in boxes for smaller answers it encourages students to think about the structure of their stories. Can also be adapted for higher ability students with the use of more probing questions or with added vocabulary for students with further needs.

Used for my Set 1 GCSE class - some 'generic' advice for approaching comparison of both their anthology poems and the unseen poetry section. There is also a list of poetic devices/subject terminology with their definitions and a break down of the aspects of form, structure and language that students should focus their analysis on. As it was aimed at my particular students I have included a section on writing about the EFFECT of the features/techniques that they identify as it's often overlooked.

A handwritten revision/informative sheet based on the requirements for the writing section of the Edexcel Language Paper 2. Covers the most likely types of text that the students may be asked to write with helpful hints and tips about other styles of writing. Focus is primarily on the register and language needed for intended audiences as well as language techniques that could be included. Could be used as a revision aid, classroom display or as part of an introduction to the unit.

A double sided DIRT (Dedicated Improvement and Reflection) sheet - primarily aimed at younger years and lower ability. The prompts on one side guide the student through responding to feedback and improving their work through this feedback, as well as this it encourages them to identify the changes made and reflect on how they can continue that level of work. On the reverse side - there is a focused spelling correction sheet that can serve as a more organised way of having students correct their spellings instead of being messily corrected throught their books.

A 'simple' worksheet that encourages students to identify quotes and techniques that are used in the introduction of Scrooge at the beginning of A Christmas Carol in addition to getting the students to think about the values and attitudes presented and giving their own opinions. Would be ideal for a home learning task.

Three sheets designed to encourage students to find relevant quotations based on each visit by the spirits. Also includes key questions that create the first steps towards structured responses, based on the significance and effect of the events that are shown to Scrooge by each spirit respectively. Could be differentiated with less modelling of examples/prompts for analysis for Stretch and Challenge as well as the addition of vocabulary banks and sentence starters for Lower Ability students.

A PowerPoint and accompanying worksheet for the study of stave two in A Christmas Carol. The PowerPoint acts as a complete lesson guide alongside the reading of the novel. Used with middle ability Year 9's but with stretch and challenge levels of tasks and the potential for even further differentiation. Also used for revision purposes with KS4 classes to recap the events and focus points for their GCSEs.

The resources begins with focusing on Act 4 scene 1 and then moves to coaching lower ability Year 9 students through essay techniques. There are also tasks for the students to undertake including; PEE Paragraphed responses, introductions and conclusion writing, assessment reflection, Wanted Posters (who they think is the most guilty) and a S&L task to persuade the class of a characters innocence.

A revision mat given to my year 11 students to help focus them on the basics and assistance in solidifying their knowledge of the questions in their upcoming exam. Features key characters, how to use quotations (with some included), the necessity for referencing as well as the assessment objectives that are focused on in each question. It also includes key allegorical comparisons for the contextual (AO3) aspects.

An A3 revision mat including details of character, plot and language, form and structural analysis for Year 11 students for the Edexcel Literature Paper 2 exam. Clear headings and subheadings allow students to easily identify the area they need to focus on and express the information clearly and accurately. Key quotations also included for characters.

A lesson made for the study of ‘London Through The Pages’. (Extract is included) Focus is on the comparison of dystopian depictions of London in comparison to others that we have studied (Neverwhere, Blake’s London, Oliver Twist, Stone Cold etc.) with some background information on the text itself. The tasks included were aimed at a higher ability class and a lower ability class (hence the differentiation by task and outcome).
