QUICK FIRE FOUNDATION GCSE BASICS GRID 9

(1)
This is a write-on resource which can be used in multiple ways: as a classwork task, homework task, weekly assessment or revision aid in the run up to assessments. There are 18 quick, "must know" questions for low ability foundation GCSE students of any age. There is a section at the foot of the resource for a score and a comment which students can act upon. Using multiple resources will build up a profile of which topics students need to review to enhance their learning. The sheet can be edited to give an infinite number of variations too. Check out the other grids in the series to build a bank of resources! A low ability GCSE class will take around 25 minutes to complete a grid.
AS Level 2017 Mathematics Lesson 13: Quadratic Formula

AS Level 2017 Mathematics Lesson 13: Quadratic Formula

(0)
This is the 13th lesson in the AS course devised by myself. The lesson powerpoint will show students how to solve quadratic equations using the formula, giving the answers as surds. A 5 minute starter on recent material students should know is included and there is a generic plenary on the last slide. The resource that accompanies the lesson will allow students to practise the lesson's objective, with the questions matching those explained by you in your exposition. There are 3 levels of differentiation on the resource and this will help your planning of directed differentiation. Resources can be printed so that students can have their own files of notes and examples. This can also be used with KS4.
HUNDREDS OF FOUNDATION GCSE NUMBER PRACTISE QUESTIONS
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

HUNDREDS OF FOUNDATION GCSE NUMBER PRACTISE QUESTIONS

(0)
Very basic old resource that has been knocking about since the modular GCSE days. Around 20 questions on each number topic at the foundation level. Everything is covered from the four rules to ratio, percentages, lots of fraction work. Nothing fancy just a list of questions to be done (very "10 ticks", but without the clipart!). Can be used as booster material, cover work for a maths department, diagnostic work or consolidation
MULTI CHOICE REVISION
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

MULTI CHOICE REVISION

(0)
Multi-choice write on resource for any low ability GCSE student, or for younger students who want a quick revision of basic topics. The topics are factors, equivalent fractions, mode, short division, bar charts, function machines, area by counting, fractions of amounts. Easy to print and even easier to mark!
Great Britons Assembly

Great Britons Assembly

(0)
A simple little assembly which references the list compiled at the turn of the millenium. Students are asked to reflect on what makes these people great. Have some fun with the students and ask if they know who some of them are!
WHOLE LESSON POWERS AND POWER LAWS (FOUNDATION)
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

WHOLE LESSON POWERS AND POWER LAWS (FOUNDATION)

(0)
An entire lesson taking students through powers of numbers and letters and the simple application of the three main power laws with positive integral powers. The starter is a 10 question true or false activity to warm students up with basic facts that they should know. The powerpoint talks students through the concept of a power of a number and then of a variable. There is a justificiation of the addition law of powers and then there is use of the division law and the power of a power. The resource that accomanies the lesson is differentiated from 1 to 3 stars and can be written on by your students. There are notes at the top of each page so that students can review what they have learned. Stuck in the students' books this becomes a learning tool.

WEEK'S WORTH OF DAILY FOUNDATION MATHS STARTERS (WEEK 2)

(0)
5 powerpoints, each of 10 questions which cover all of the basics any student should know in maths: place value, simple percentages, rounding, BIDMAS, area and perimeter by counting, mode and many more. Multi-choice so everybody can have a go and the answers are shown as well. Each one, with class discussions on each question, can take from 5 minutes to 15 minutes. I start all of my Foundation GCSE and younger classes with these.
AS Level 2017 Mathematics Lesson 18 Division of Polynomials
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

AS Level 2017 Mathematics Lesson 18 Division of Polynomials

(0)
This entire lesson will talk through the algorithm of division. Typically a cubic is divided by a linear term. The powerpoint (which contains a starter) will show how each term is generated and its place in the division process. Students will also see how the answer (quotient and remainder) fit together and can be used to check. The resource that accompanies the lesson is fully differentiated
AS Level 2017 Mathematics Lesson 17 The Straight Line
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

AS Level 2017 Mathematics Lesson 17 The Straight Line

(0)
This complete lesson will guide your students through the often perceived difficulty of using the equation of a straight line in the form y = mx +c to deduce the gradient and the intercept. There is no plotting of the lines but more an algebraic manipulation. The lesson incorporates when lines can be parallel and perpendicular and students are encouraged to think about setting one variable to zero to find where the line crosses the other axis. The resource that accompanies the lesson is fully differentiated. This lesson can be used for gifted KS3 or 4 students

DAILY STARTER FOR MATHS STUDENTS WORKING AT GRADES 1/2/3

(1)
Try this starter with your classes. There are 10 questions, all multi-choice and the answers are on there too. A great way to start a lesson with any student of any age that needs to continually review the basics of the subject (number, algebra, shape and data questions)
EDEXCEL OLD SPEC CORE 2 REVISION GRID A
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

EDEXCEL OLD SPEC CORE 2 REVISION GRID A

(0)
A quick revision sheet for any student on the legacy course for Edexcel A Level Maths. There are 12 questions that cover pretty much all of the module. Students should be able to answer these quick-fire questions in about 20 minutes if they are ready to tackle the Core2 examination. The powerpoint plays model solutions and can be mailed to students to help them assess their work. Ideal for any student re-sitting from last year

ASSEMBLY: IF IT IS WORTH HAVING, WORK FOR IT

(1)
An assembly geared at students taking examinations this year. Contains a nice story of a man watching the struggles of a butterfly. Also contains a link to a really nice Youtube comedy clip from the medical show "Scrubs" (I do not own the rights to this clip)
FULL LESSON FOUNDATION GCSE: STARTER EQUATIONS (LETTERS BOTH SIDES)
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

FULL LESSON FOUNDATION GCSE: STARTER EQUATIONS (LETTERS BOTH SIDES)

(0)
The first lesson for low ability KS3 or 4 students where we introduce them to solving equations of the type 2x + 3 = x + 9. The powerpoint is animated and uses the classic balance pan approach or a more dynamic “zapping” approach. The fully differentiated resource goes from 1 star (diagrams drawn for students and they simply scribble over the x counters and number counters) through to 3 star where students will attempt to solve using only manipulation. The resource is printed so that students can write on, thus saving time. Note that answers are not included and that there are no negative x terms in the equation (that would be next lesson). A lesson checkout is included where students can be quizzed on what they have done in the lesson.
WHOLE LESSON FOUNDATION SIMILAR FIGURES
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

WHOLE LESSON FOUNDATION SIMILAR FIGURES

(0)
An entire lesson teaching foundation students how to find missing sides on a pair of similar figures. Powerpoint takes students through the theory and then the fully differentiated, write-on resource can let students chose to practise at the level they feel most confident in. The answers are mainly integers and scale factors of 1.5 or 2.5 and so the lesson can be done without a calculator. Answers not included.
Daily Revision for Year 13 Edexcel Students: Day 2
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

Daily Revision for Year 13 Edexcel Students: Day 2

(1)
This is a daily task we are going to use in our centre to help our Year 13 students start to think about last year’s content. There are 6 pure, 2 mechanics and 2 statistics questions. Questions have been devised by myself and based on classic examination style questions. Model solutions are provided, although staff may want to check for errors!
Revision End of Year Assessment (Based on Edexcel Nov 2017 P2 F)
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

Revision End of Year Assessment (Based on Edexcel Nov 2017 P2 F)

(0)
Designed for lower ability KS3 students who will be taking an end of year assessment based on the second paper of the Edexcel November 2017 new spec paper. This is to help weaker students pick up marks on selected topics such as basic manipulation, area by counting, ratio, primes, multiples. This is not covering the whole paper…just to build confidence in students who would struggle to pick up any points at the start of the paper. The powerpoint contains similar questions and the resource to print to accompany it contains brief notes and then several quick questions to practise. Answers not included.

YEAR 13 ALGEBRAIC FRACTIONS ENTIRE LESSON FREE DEMO

I am busy writing new schemes of work for the Year 13 new a level course. I would welcome comments on this entire lesson. The powerpoint (complete with differentiated objectives) will show students how to simplify expressions. The fully differentiated resource comes with complete model solutions which I intend to print for the students, along with the task sheet. A lesson summary sheet for your teaching files will also be included (but that is still being created) Any additions or comments on the structure would be appreciated
