Mystery neighbours - collect a bin bag full of clues to share with the class and see if they can solve the mystery - commented on as 'an exciting and engaging' lesson in a recent Ofsted (images of ideas for clues included). A mystery letter - can the children use the clues to infer who the sender might be? (Example included) Using movie trailers for children to make inferences before they see the film is a great way to promote inference skills - editable template provided! Watch the movie trailers and see if the children's inferences remain the same. What is a dragon? A PowerPoint all about dragons to stimulate writing with dragon images for ‘Quickwrite’ adjective activity. After sharing this introduction the children designed their own dragons, named them and then we watched ‘How to train a dragon featurette’. The children then wrote instructions on how to train their own dragons and we ended the unit of work by writing acrostic dragon poems.
