Once upon a crime - write a news report

(0)
This resource can be used to support writing fairytale news. This pack includes 2 PowerPoints which explore headlines and fairytale crimes to discuss and use as a stimulus for children’s own writing along with blank newspaper templates and crime scene images. There are five sample copies of news reports which can be used as WAGOLLs (linked to Little Red Riding Hood, The Gingerbread Man, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Jack and the Beanstalk and The Three Little Pigs) & used to identify the features of news reports (I used post-it notes with my class for them to label the parts) and a planning template for children’s own reports. A useful wanted poster template is also included which could be used as an extension activity to help capture the fairytale villains whilst promoting the use of expanded noun phrases. N.b. Publisher & PDF copies included.

This is a collection of 12 resources to use when teaching sentence types. This pack includes a great range of fun, interactive games and activities which I have used with a Year2 class. Play 'Guess the sentence type' the children can then make their own sentence type comic strips by drawing or using their own digital images or how about 'Spin a sentence.' Sentence Scoot and Four Corners are fab lesson starters and all resources are included in pack e.g. 32 sentence cards, sentence type signs and record sheets or perhaps you might want to go on a sentence hunt. Several of these resources would also be suitable as homework tasks. Buy this resource as a bumper package here: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/spag-pack-for-year-2-11633421

Are you looking for a fun way to test your children's SPaG skills? This get up and go game is ideal for practising SATs style questions and checking pupils knowledge of the Y2 SPaG curriculum in an active way. All you have to do is print out the 20 A4 question cards (laminate) and set out your trail indoors or outdoors. Children then visit each station in pairs/groups, read the questions, discuss their ideas and record their answers on the sheet provided. I have also used this 'Scoot' game as an activity for parents at our KS1 workshops to give them an idea of the type of questions their children will be given in the end of KS1 SATs.
