This is a collection of 12 resources to use when teaching sentence types. This pack includes a great range of fun, interactive games and activities which I have used with a Year2 class. Play 'Guess the sentence type' the children can then make their own sentence type comic strips by drawing or using their own digital images or how about 'Spin a sentence.' Sentence Scoot and Four Corners are fab lesson starters and all resources are included in pack e.g. 32 sentence cards, sentence type signs and record sheets or perhaps you might want to go on a sentence hunt. Several of these resources would also be suitable as homework tasks.

This pack includes a PowerPoint of Fairytale crimes to discuss and use as a stimulus for children’s own writing along with blank newspaper templates and crime scene images. Also included is a PowerPoint focussing on headlines and images for children to use when writing their own headlines. There are five sample copies of news reports (linked to Little Red Riding Hood, The Gingerbread Man, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Jack and the Beanstalk and The Three Little Pigs) which can be used to identify the features of news reports (I used post-it notes with my class for them to label the parts) and a planning template to ‘box up’ ideas for their own reports. A useful wanted poster template is also included to help capture the Fairytale villains whilst promoting the use of expanded noun phrases!

Are you looking for a fun outdoor activity? This is a very popular activity at my school - all you need to do is print out the 12 stations and laminate (optional!) then position them around your outdoor area. You can provide the children with a map so it is more of an orienteering task or just set it up as a trail. The children then work in groups/pairs to visit each station, read and answer the questions (which are a mix of English, maths, science and geography) recording their answers on the sheet provided along with the blue symbol. At the end of the course the children will have collected 11 letters and station 12 gives them a final hint to work out the secret message. This resource is easily edited to suit your needs and there are certificates included for all children who complete the course!
A Powerpoint of maths questions using images and varied representations to elicit children's understanding of mathematical concepts including: place value, addition and subtraction, money, multiplication and division, fractions and shape. These questions work well to support a mastery approach to mathematics.
