Reading Corner signposts

(2)
This might just inspire using sign posts for your reading corner (the arrows may be facing the wrong way?!). I have them laminated, stuck on a branch from outside so it looks like a sign post. The two uses of language allows those children who still find the terms fiction and non-fiction hard to understand. I have a table with computer in the book corner too so use it as a 'research centre&' - reading on the Internet.

Self-assessment labels

Self assessment labels that can be stuck in after a piece of work. Children are asked the question ‘How well do you feel you understood today’s learning?’ They can then circle an emoji or rate their understanding on a scale 1 - 5. 21 labels per A4 page. Use the 21 labels A4 page and press print as normal.

Simply maths vocabulary for using the four operations in number and word problems. I have found enlarging this to A3 works better from a display point of view.

A poster/ learning mat or an inclusion page for a Writer’s Toolkit which will encourage children to use other words for ‘said’ in their writing.

Positive Behaviour Card

This card has always been a fantastic quick-make to promote positive behaviour. You use a single hole punch to celebrate behaviour and they use like a reward card to collect or earn a reward. This is so easy to make: literally print out on coloured card and it is ready to go! This could also be used a target card within the classroom.

Y1 - Y6 Right Every Time (Common Exception Words) Spelling Mat

(0)
Year 1 - Year 6 Right Every Time (Common Exception Words) Spelling Mat (Writing Assessment/ Moderation) This can be used as a ‘on the table’ dictionary spellling mat with commonly misspelt words on. It could also work as an editing resource when it comes to an edit/ redraft day. Experience has shown children really like having this mat to check spellings and for them to all be in one, accessible place. All KS1 words are included as well as some common misspelt words. All Y3/Y4 National Curriculum common exception words are included (shaded in green) as well as all the Y5/ Y6 common exception words (shaded in blue). There are also maths words, numbers and adverbials & conjunctions on the back for those common words that are often spelt wrongly. Handy for teachers to have near them while assessing writing too in Year 5 or Year 6! Contact me if you would like a version without lines, colours or Y5/6 spelling words.
