This sheet is designed to enable ‘live’ marking during speaking mock exams and also to enable quick but detailed feedback to students.
It can also be used for a ‘walking, talking mock’.
I have made the wording of the mark scheme clearer and more concise to render it clearer for students.
Grade boundaries are included so that the sheet is a complete mark scheme.
The grade boundaries are for the Spanish 2018 exam.
The French are as follows:
Foundation 38 /5 34/4 25/3 16/2 7/1
Higher: 53/9 48/8 44/7 38/6 32/5 27/4 (22/3 - no longer used - no grade 3 at Higher)
A unit of work with vocabulary, grammar and activities to help students reflect on how to create A-A* work for their Speaking and Writing controlled assessments, according to AQA and Edexcel marking criteria.
This resource is best used in conjunction with a dictionary (including online), and is also useful for building reading confidence. The exemplar texts could be read out as part of a dictation activity also, with pupils checking what they wrote with the exemplar texts, to help with listening skills.
It is suitable for independent or cover work, as well as homework or teacher-led activities.
Exemplar A grade text on the topic of Where I Live, followed by a series of activities to enable students to write their own Controlled Assessment to a Grade A. Also good for reading comprehension practice. Suitable for independent work, cover and resits. Several hours worth of preparatory work (scaffolding, vocabulary-building, focus on verbs and tenses) and advice on how to prepare for CA effectively.
To help pupils of all abilities build and add complexity to texts. Includes activities to get pupils started with the mats, and to get them reflecting on how to improve their writing and speaking.
The 2 mats(KS3 and KS4) are best printed out in colour on A3 and laminated. You could do them double sided, as the KS3 side provides good support for less able pupils at KS4.
A unit of work to help students prepare for the upcoming that can be used in class or as independent revision. It has many hours worth of activities and encourages progress through low stakes testing and spaced learning, as well as providing sample answers and vocabulary and key language support.
The handbook describes each task in the AQA speaking exam, including success criteria, and provides sample questions and answers. Tasks are designed to build confidence and knowledge.
Support in the form of a knowledge capture sheet is given in a separate document.
There is enough here to cover all lessons and independent learning in the run up to the AQA speaking exam at the beginning of May , especially if adequate time is given for self-testing (which I strongly recommend).

A lengthy worksheet designed to enable British students to reflect on the success criteria for GCSE Spanish at A* - how to gain the highest possible marks in the exam they take aged 16. The resource contains a crib sheet with vocabulary and grammar, as well as some higher level exemplar texts to help pupils practice reading more complex Spanish as well as adapting the texts in order to create their own higher level texts.
This worksheet would be suitable for those seeking to enhance their spoken and written Spanish.

Useful as a controlled assessment speaking or writing exam preparation activity, and also for reading comprehension practice.
Designed for persistent D graders, who could work at a C, but just cannot make the connection.
Extensive presentation with notes and suggestions of how to deliver.
For candidates aiming for all grades from C upwards, as you can get them to consider how to enhance the texts /improve the grade.
This could cover at least 3 lessons, possible more, as it build pupils up through basic to more complex opinions, with a review of how to use verbs (in the present tense) along the way.
Designed for my bordering D/C pupils.
A resource for foundation students sitting the AQA Spanish GCSE. Each role play from the AQA specimen speaking paper is included, along with the teacher notes and some exemplar answers. There are also some tips for the role play and guidance on how to use the resource.
An exemplar B grade text followed by a series of activities to enable pupils to produce their own B grade Controlled Assessment on the topic of school. Suitable for cover or independent work (i.e re-sits). Several hours worth of work.
This is a 12 page booklet / unit of work which will aid learners with a target grade of a B to improve confidence and build vocabulary through drilling and text level work.
It is stand alone (though pupils will need access to a dictionary) and therefore ideal for homework and/or cover or independent work. It has been produced after careful study of AQA and Edexcel marking criteria and exemplar work.
I have tried to keep the vocabulary as general and cross-topic as possible.
I would say that it is ideal for those just starting the course, or those who have to complete Controlled Assessment outside of a topic (i.e. re-sits / those who have missed out or who have underachieved and need to catch up). I have focused only on the present and past in order to maintain accessibility, as through experience these are the two easiest tenses for learners to produce independently.
A sheet with AQA GCSE marking criteria to enable peer assessment and reflection on next steps for improvement in Speaking Controlled Assesssment preparation.
Is for Spanish speaking, but with minor adjustments can be for writing and any language.
However, I will adjust for writing Controlled Assessment for those less confident or new to the mark scheme.
Can be used for peer assessment, but also to aid self-assessment, or for FLAs/TAs as guidance.
To be used in conjunction with Higher Literacy Mat for Spanish: this can be found in the free uploads section under my username.
