Reflection Worksheet

Reflection Worksheet

(7)
I just wanted a reasonably simple reflection worksheet for some lower ability students so came up with this and it seemed to challenge them.
Definite Integrals

Definite Integrals

(8)
This presentation just takes you through definite integrals and uses questions from Edexcel; please don't expect anything flashy. If the animations get mixed up I apologise but for some reason Equation Editor doesn't have square brackets onto which one can put limits! Annoying.
GCSE Revision Pub Quiz - Higher and Foundation

GCSE Revision Pub Quiz - Higher and Foundation

(115)
This is a revision activity either to be done in small groups or individually. There are the following rounds: Number, Algebra, Shape and Space, Date Handling, Using and Applying. All have 10 questions worth one point each except the Using and Applying round where there are 5 questions worth 3 points each, where workings must be given.

Multiplying and Dividing Fractions Spiders

(8)
Four sheets (two with mixed numbers, two without) to practise multiplying and dividing fractions. This is just a different way of doing some questions and depending on how it's run can involve plenty of discussion.
Trigonometry In Non-Right-Angled Triangles Matching

Trigonometry In Non-Right-Angled Triangles Matching

(2)
Five matching activities involving the Sine Rule, Cosine Rule and finding the area of a triangle using trigonometry. These are designed to show learning/demonstrate understanding whether as a starter or plenary but could be used all together as a lesson's main activity.
Surds Spiders

Surds Spiders

(13)
These spiders (there are seven of them in total) take you through simplifying, calculating, rationalising denominators, expanding brackets and rationalising "tough" surds.
Types of Graph

Types of Graph

(4)
I did this having seen numerous poor attempts at sketches in books on recognising types of graph.
Properties of Shapes Matching
alutwychealutwyche

Properties of Shapes Matching

(5)
All triangles and quarilaterals plus a regular polygon slide with 8 statements that students must decide whether they are always, sometimes or never true. This should create discussion. I have said that squares are a type of rectangle, and a rhombus is a type of parallelogram.
Transforming Functions Spiders

Transforming Functions Spiders

(2)
Four spiders, two with curve and two involving trigonometric functions. These are designed to be used as starters or plenaries but they also work as consolidation activities.
Mean, Median and Mode Girls

Mean, Median and Mode Girls

(9)
This was an idea one of my Year 10s gave me using the "Mean Girls" films. This covers basic mean, median and mode before moving on to stem-and-leaf (including IQR) and grouped data - there are three very distinct sections moving up in difficulty to enable you to start/end where you like. It's all on the powerpoint to save the planet (no worksheet) but everything can be copied and pasted to create a worksheet.
Function Machines Puzzles

Function Machines Puzzles

(3)
Can you calculate what the workers in each box are doing on the mathematical building site? It's essentially function machines but where you have the answers but need to find the rules.
Building Blocks - Statistical Diagrams

Building Blocks - Statistical Diagrams

(2)
Taking students all the way from pictograms, through bar charts, pie charts, stem-and-leaf, scatter graphs, frequency diagrams, cumulative frequency, box plots and histograms. The graphs are as large as I can make them and should be ok if copied on to A4.
Sets and Venn Diagrams Matching
alutwychealutwyche

Sets and Venn Diagrams Matching

(3)
Six matchings involving set notation and shading Venn diagrams. Hopefully these will encourage discussion in the classroom and they are designed as starters or plenaries where students, since most of the answers are there, are encouraged to try harder problems than they might normally do.
Inequalities Spiders
alutwychealutwyche

Inequalities Spiders

(13)
This is designed to make students think about representing inequalities on a number line, listing integers (directly and having simplified) and regions. They are split this way to allow you to start/stop wherever you feel your class needs to. The number lines and graphs are as big as I can make them!
Parallel and Perpendicular Lines Spiders
alutwychealutwyche

Parallel and Perpendicular Lines Spiders

(29)
With the new curriculum in mind I did this. Students must use their knowledge of parallel and perpendicular lines to fill in blanks but this could lead to discussions about different ways to write equations of lines etc. Errant negative signs on number 4 corrected (I hope).
Percentage Spiders
alutwychealutwyche

Percentage Spiders

(3)
This takes students through percentage of an amount, one number as a percentage of another, percentage increase and decrease (including multipliers), percentage change, repeated percentage change and the reverse. This should be more challenging as the students go through it and should produce discussion.
Exploding Sequences
alutwychealutwyche

Exploding Sequences

(4)
This is an activity taking students through nth terms of arithmetic sequences, summing arithmetic sequences and nth terms of quadratic sequences. Different pieces of information are given each time to ensure that students develop understanding rather than get in a rut and performing a process. This should lead to discussion in class between students and teacher.
Surface Area and Volume Matching
alutwychealutwyche

Surface Area and Volume Matching

(1)
There are eight matchings here: 4 surface area and 4 volume. They get increasingly difficult moving through cubes/cuboids to prisms to cones, cylinders, pyramids and spheres. These are designed to be used as starters or plenaries but you can use them for a lesson main activity, totally up to you.
