Aimed at a year 9 class I taught (based loosely on Activate 2 biology topics and beginning of GCSE biology). Biology revision test based on the following topics: Animal and plant cells Transport of substances Specialised cells Mitosis vs meiosis Structure of DNA Punnet square (genetics) Answers provided. Was given as an informal assessment, to allow me to see how they were progressing. The ‘revision test’ was also used to help them revise for their end of topic assessment - after assessing their work they were able to work out their gaps in learning.

Not my idea Original on Twitter - will try and find source A revision idea I tried with my year 7 class. They were allowed to use their KO and exercise books to help them answer the questions. Anything they were unsure about I helped with. The aim of the ‘game’ is to take over as many regions as possible. I printed the map on A5 and stuck it in a plastic wallet. Students had to answer any question of their choice – if they got it right (according to partner) they are able to take over the region (initial the region with board pen on the plastic wallet). Students are able to use the * questions (aimed to be more difficult) to take over a region that has already been occupied. It worked well especially as we started the lesson off with a brain dump of everything they could remember.

Chemistry Paper 2 questions and answers based on the AQA textbooks. I created these resources for my Triple class as a means of revision, a tool for them to use with parents and siblings to test their knowledge (especially for those families who don’t have a scientific background/ have not studied GCSE themselves). Ways this resource can be used: Printed out with all the content for students to learn. Students can test themselves or each other by folding the page down the middle. Edited so most of the answers are blanked out, this way students can use the textbook and their workbooks to answer the questions. Used as part of retrieval practice or starters in lessons. Questions can be set as homework for students, followed by a short quiz at the start of lesson. (There is a lot of information on these sheets. May need to be edited according to the classes you teach). *If you notice any spelling errors, please let me know!
