French Greetings Bundle

French Greetings Bundle

8 Resources
All you will need for a strong and engaging first lesson with your new classes. That first lesson back can be a bit flat because they resources for greetings and simple questions and answers can be pretty dull. Whether you buy this bundle to use with beginner learners or as a refresher lesson for new classes, you won't be disappointed. I have included a great video with music and robots for immediate impact- pop it on as they walk in. The PowerPoint introduces the vocab so you can drill and then includes some classic language games and a chance for you to get them to listen and match up (and copy the lang into their books if you wish). There is a 'one page learning' great for differentiation, as a support tool, a revision sheet, homework, learning mat...whatever you like! An interactive quiz for a snappy start or memorable exit game and two versions of follow me cards (small class or large class). Second PowerPoint to introduce days of week and months of year also included. GREAT VALUE!!! Please consider leaving a review :)
One Page Learning Mat: the Basics

One Page Learning Mat: the Basics

(7)
A fantastic support for the first few lessons. Print and laminate and use as a learning mat to boost confidence amongst new learners in the classroom. Great differentiation technique when dealing with mixed ability classes. Use it as a speaking frame / a writing frame / a learning mat / a revision aid / an extension tool. The PDF is in colour but looks nice printed in greyscale as well. I usually print and photocopy in greyscale but put the colour version on the IWB.

French Interactive Quiz: Food

(7)
An interactive quiz to use as snappy starter, fun plenary or engaging revision tool. 12 French sentences about food, each has a multiple choice answer. If the pupils selects the correct answer hey are sent o a celebration page. If the wrong answer is selected they are sent to an 'oh no' page with a funny voice. The pupils love this quiz. There are other versions available in my TES shop. You could turn it into a game of noughts and crosses of connect 4 by drawing a quick 3x4 grid on the whiteboard and pupils compete to see which team can complete a row first by answering their chosen question correctly first time. Please consider leaving feedback- it helps other users make an informed decision and really means a huge amount to me!

French Easter Board Game Paques

A board game to practise vocabulary for Easter. Pupils roll the dice and say the French for the picture they land on. Extra challenge given as they progress through the game and have to describe the pictures and give opinions. Great lead on from my Easter PowerPoint. Great speaking and listening practice. Increased enthusiasm and engagement. Adds dimension of competition. Could be used as a reward for early finishes. This resource is available as part of an Easter bundle, saving you money.

UPDATED SEP 2020! French 'Tout sur moi' All about me sheet End of Year or First Lesson Back activity

(6)
Great end of year activity especially for pupils who enjoy doodling and making things look pretty- this is surely a winner for a gel pen fan! It would also make a great first lesson 3 slides included Pre-populated poster with answers filled in. A version with questions written at the top of each box for pupils to respond to An empty version without the question so pupils have autonomy over content. This is also editable so you can amend the language according to your year group and topic. Simply add text boxes over the box and put your own question in. Two word mats are also included to support pupils with vocabulary they probably should know but maybe haven’t used since September/October and they want some kind of reference! These make great start of topic glossaries or learning homework sheets as well so print and use next year.
French: Les Fruits Smoothie Challenge (NEW extra: les fruits PowerPoint)

French: Les Fruits Smoothie Challenge (NEW extra: les fruits PowerPoint)

(5)
*NEW EXTRA: I have added a fruit PowerPoint to bring more value to the resource. * Pupils race against the clock and each other to find the meaning of 22 fruits. Task 1: work on your won to find as many of the words as you can in the allocated time (teacher to set classroom timer and provide dictionaries). Task 2: work with a partner to share answers in the allocated time. Task 3: circulate the classroom and exchange words with others in an attempt to fill in the blanks (at this point I offer my own services and offer one exchange with each pupil- they have usually left the trickier ones to the end and might need you to support in this way in order to translate all 22). Most are fruit, some are liquids- enabling them to create a simple but delicious fruit smoothie. Task 4: select 5 ingredients for a fruit smoothie (you could reward the winner). Great for developing dictionary skills; increasing vocabulary; encouraging pupil interaction and using language creatively. 3 sheets are provided- 2 in colour (a pink version and a blue version) and 1 in black and white.

French: the basics Follow Me Cards 'I have Who has'

(4)
35 unique cards covering the basics including greetings, first questions and responses, days of the week and months of the year. Distribute the cards. The person with 'DEBUT' begins and asks the first question 'Qui a bonjour?' this prompts the next person who has the phrase 'J'ai bonjour' written on their card. They shout this out followed by their own question, 'Qui a au revoir?' The game continues like this until the last person ends with 'La Fin!' Excellent for vocabulary consolidation and to inject energy into the lesson. Gets pupils interacting and speaking and listening. Brilliant for revision lessons for all year groups.

GCSE French Role Play: Video 'At the Hotel'

(4)
This is a link to my You Tube channel where you will find a whiteboard animation video. This is great to use in class with the pupils- can they translate te sentences quicker than the pen? They could write them down or say them out loud? A fabulous task to set as revision as well- pupils more inclined to watch a you tube video to music (I have great stats evidence for previous year’s videos - by analysing the demographics I know that thousands of pupils watched my video in the week before the French exams!) More topics on the way. There is a bundle of activities for this topic here https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/gcse-french-role-play-task-at-the-hotel-11874119
