They are PowerPoint presentations that allow children to revise phonemes and learn or revisit target split digraph sounds. Each lesson takes 15-20 minutes. This resource is a non-fiction comprehension activity for year 2. It is based on the KS1 SATs reading paper and includes 3 differentiated levels. The booklet is all about L.S. Lowry. Perfect to use as part of a KS1 history or art topic or just for general interest for comprehension practice. There are a range of 'what,' 'when,' 'where' and 'why' questions, some multiple choice tick questions and some that require more detailed answers. The activity is also laid out in a similar way to the SATs booklets, with four pages of pictures and short written extracts to read and 2-3 questions per page. Answers are also included. A 5 lesson literacy unit based around Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. The unit is aimed at year 3 and 4 and gives details of the curriculum objectives covered. The children develop reading comprehension, speaking, planning, writing, editing and SPaG skills during the unit. This is achieved through varied, fun and interactive activities. All five lessons include a SPaG or composition starter, which is always linked to *Romeo and Juliet. * The main activity in lesson 1 is a reading comprehension of a simplified version of the play. It is differentiated 3 ways. The main activity in lesson 2 allows children to practise their performance skills. Lesson 3 allows children to begin learning playwriting skills, whilst in lessons 4 and 5, they plan and write their own play or scene, based on Shakespeare’s play. This resource contains a comprehension pack on ‘Remembrance Day.’ There are four different comprehensions: What is Remembrance Day? The First Remembrance Day Why do we wear poppies? The History of the Poppy It includes answers and is suitable for using with year 1. Each comprehension contains a short piece of text (about 5 sentences) with words that can be sounded out. There are three trickier words which have pictures to help children work out what they say. The text is followed by 5 simple questions. There is also a powerpoint included in the pack containing a slide for each text so that you can go through the comprehensions before the children complete them. The theme for the unit is women's rights, with a focus on Elizabeth Garrett-Anderson, the first female doctor and Emmeline Pankhurst, the suffragette. This resource is a set of 3 art lessons based around the theme of harvest for Key Stage 1. Children create three pictures based on Van Gogh’s series of wheatfield paintings. The key skills that are taught include creating different tones and shades with paint, pastel and pencil and experimenting with shapes and patterns. The lesson plans are very detailed and include a list of any resources you will need to get out of the cupboard. There are also details of curriculum links and examples of work from my class. I have included the PowerPoints I used for the series of lessons, which contains information about the artist, examples of the artists’ work around which the lessons are based and information about how bread is made. Also included are templates for the children to use. This resource is a non-fiction comprehension activity for year 2. The theme of the comprehension is ‘living in space’ and the booklet covers what it is like for astronauts living in space stations, including what they eat, how they sleep, how they exercise and what they do in their spare time. It would be perfect for using during ‘World Space Week’ in October, during a space topic or during ‘Science Week.’ The booklets are based on the KS1 SATs reading paper. I have included 3 differentiated levels. There are a range of ‘what,’ ‘where,’ ‘how’ and ‘who’ questions, some multiple choice tick questions and some that require more detailed answers. The activity is also laid out in a similar way to the SATs booklets. There is a title page with helpful words followed by four pages of pictures and short written extracts to read and 4 questions per page. Each differentiated level contains 16 questions in total. There is a colour and black white PDF version of the booklet for each level and answers are also included.
