About
cap that! is a national education campaign asking Australian teachers to simply turn on captions on classroom videos to benefit all students.
We promote the proven learning & literacy benefits of captions, particularly for students who are Deaf or hearing impaired, with English as an additional language/dialect, struggling readers or students with learning disabilities.
Captions are available on many DVDs, online videos & TV programs used in schools – it’s just a matter of turning them on.
Our 2013 Captions Champion Kit & resources help teachers achieve this in their schools. Our main promotional week is National Literacy & Numeracy Week (29 July – 4 August), when we ask teachers to try out captions & see the difference they can make for all kids.
cap that! is an initiative of Media Access Australia, sponsored by Australian Communication Exchange & with the patronage of NSW Senator the Hon Ursula Stephens. We are also supported by National Literacy & Numeracy Week.
