This is a set of three lengthy PowerPoints that can be used over 2/3 lessons. The first PowerPoint introduces an extensive range of grammatical terms, including pronouns, infinitives, conjugated verbs, articles, intensifiers and many more with lots of examples. There is a plenary/test to check students’ comprehension. The other two PowerPoints have a more in-depth check of understanding with French texts; one for students who have only covered present tense verbs; and the other covering three tenses.

This resource explains the uses of French infinitives for GCSE level. It starts from the beginning, going over how to recognise infinitives and their uses in French. The PowerPoint goes through infinitives following conjugated verbs; infinitives used as nouns; infinitives following prepositions; and infinitives as commands or instructions. For each section there are examples and different exercises to complete. There is a worksheet included that accompanies the PowerPoint.

This resource is for the Spanish GCSE New Specifications Speaking Exam – General Conversation.This is a booklet that can be printed for each student and contains over 250 general conversation questions. These questions have put together by researching all exam boards and example materials, but are aimed largely at AQA. The questions are in themes are also broken down into sub-themes. Within each set of questions in a sub-theme, they have been classified into tenses so that pupils can be clear of the tense they need to use to answer the relevant question. These can form the basis of regular classroom practice for the speaking exam and if pupils are confident with these questions, they will also be able to answer many of the questions that will form part of the photo card section of the exam.

This grammar sorting challenge is a whole class team game to revise and/ or check pupils’ understanding of grammatical terms. In teams pupils are given a large set of French words and each term must work together to attach each of their words to one of the 8 posters that are stuck up around the classroom with the following headings: Conjugated Verbs, Infinitives, Nouns, Subject Pronouns, Articles, Adjectives, Connectives and Time Phrases. Only one team member is allowed to be out of their seat at any one time. There is a PowerPoint slide to show the challenge on the board and it has a sound document attached - this is a timed challenge and pupils have only the length of the song to complete the challenge. At the end, teams are scored by the correct number of words they have under the appropriate grammatical headings. Each team has their words in a different colour font and therefore you can easily identify to which team the words belong. I have also included a further explanation document with this resource. This is a fun quiz all about Christmas, suitable for all pupils. There are 100 questions. It is divided into four sections: 25 multiple-choice questions; 25 true/ false questions; 25 open-ended questions; and 25 Christmas-themed anagrams. The quiz is all on a PowerPoint (44 slides), which is presented in a fun way with lots of pictures. The answers to each section are on the PowerPoint and there is also a worksheet with all of the questions, which can be printed. However, the quiz can easily be completed without the worksheet.

This is a set of 22 motivational quotes/ phrases in Spanish, based largely on the growth mindset principles. These quotes/ phrases are presented on a PowerPoint and each slide is in a poster format so that each can be printed and used as part of a whole classroom display. They can also be used for pupils to translate and then to inspire pupils to create some of their own.

This is a fun printable dictionary for pupils to use as a reference and also to record the French vocabulary they are learning during their studies. It starts with six reference pages, which include the vocabulary for: numbers 1 – 100; colours; days, months, seasons; weather; time and animals. Following this are 26 pages, each has a letter of the alphabet, with example words for each letter and the rest of the page is left blank for students to fill in as they go along. There are also some completely blank pages at the end if students fill up an alphabet page. This can all be printed in black and white and the pages can be put in a duotang or made into a booklet.

This set of resources is aimed at students at the higher end of GCSE and/or A/S level students. There are 3 large texts about Human Rights issues with a range of exercises to complete – match up vocabulary, true/ false questions, questions in French, questions in English. There is then a rouge/ noir exercise when students must decide which French phrase (out of pairs of phrases) is correct and translate into English. There is a multiple choice quiz in French about all the work covered in this resource, to see what pupils have understood overall and check the information they have retained. This is a set of twelve rhymes that I have created, based on the growth mindset principles. These simple rhymes are colourfully presented for a whole classroom display. The rhymes are motivational, encouraging pupils to train their brains!

This can be easily adapted for home learning. This set of resources is an excellent way to finish work on self and family. It will take at least 4 lessons. There is a build up to the main activity when pupils work in groups and create their own funny families, which they present to the rest of the class. I have used this over many years with many groups and have refined it. I can honestly say pupils love doing it. Everything is presented in a step-by-step format and could be used by a non-specialist or cover teacher. There are two Power Points and range of worksheets. The first PowerPoint is to re-cap work on self and family and will be a lead into the main activity. In this first PowerPoint three members of the same family present information about themselves – the first very simply, the next has more information and the third is a longer text. For the first two family members there are differentiated exercises – very simple with circling the correct answer or true and false to open ended questions. You can choose to use different tasks for different ability groups within the class or it can all be used for the whole class. The second PowerPoint introduces the group activity in a step-by-step way. Pupils will work in groups to create a funny family, but each person in the group will be responsible for one family member so ultimately each pupil will be producing their own piece of work. There are a range of help sheets to help pupils of all abilities and there are answers for all exercises included. Finally the pupils will present their families in groups to the rest of the class. They can be assessed on the written work produced and/or the oral presentation.

Easily adaptable for home learning. There is a GCSE text about online shopping. The accompanying worksheet has a wide range of activities to complete, both directly related to the text and activities just related to the theme. Activities include vocabulary exercises, translation, comprehension and answering questions relevant to parts of the new specifications speaking and/ or writing exams.

There is a fairly lengthy reading comprehension document and this is accompanied by a PowerPoint and student worksheet. The PowerPoint contains a range of activities for students to complete, firstly based on the reading comprehension and then based on other work. There is a vocabulary match-up, a vrai/faux exercise, questions to answer in English, translations from French into English and a fill in the missing word exercise. ALL answers are provided on the PowerPoint.
