Bystander Apathy Assembly - Could you be a hero?

(0)
An powerful assembly related to the bystander apathy effect - how many of us would really help someone in need? Or would we just like to think we would? Based around the real life case of Kitty Genovese who died even though there were witnesses. This assembly is most powerful if you place an actor somewhere outside the assembly hall. They act upset/in need and they count how many students ask them if they are ok on their way in to the assembly. This figure can then be used to illustrate how many of the students would actually intervene if someone need their help.

Thinking Ladder Display and Tasks (Differentiation Tool, Non Subject Specific)

(1)
This could be used for any secondary subject/age. However, I have developed this for Psychology/Sociology. It’s based on different levels of thinking and skills for differentiate or stretch and challenge. I have a thinking ladder in my classroom with pockets for tasks relating to the different skills. Students pick a skill from the ladder and then choose a task to complete based on their learning in the lesson. Could be use as an extension or plenary. There is an incentive for students to push themselves in the form of a tracker.
