Please note that this is not the same as three lessons; it takes me a lot longer to teach a thorough analysis of the set work as we discuss these resources in class. I take no credit for the analysis which has been written by EDUQAS. The lessons cover structure, melody and harmony & tonality of the complete symphony. Discussion points and short analysis tasks are highlighted in bold to break the discussions up. These presentations require teacher guidance in the classroom but should be a really useful tool to shape your lessons.

Composer/artist biography and why they are significant to the development of music. Recommended listening for students to explore music on their own. A listening task to test some basic analysis skills. A keyboard exercise that students can play on their own or split LH/RH as a pair. The lesson can be used as a stand alone lesson, or as we’ve used in our department, as a starting point to introduce a new topic before then moving onto a practical task that can be continued into two or three lessons depending on students’ abilities.
