Introduction to pseudo code and Python
Providing examples of assignment, sequence, selection and repetition.
Introductory exercises for students focusing on assignment and sequence.
Data types, validation and selection (inc. nested)
A student activity sheet (with answers) that includes exercises covering:
data types
validation
selection
nested selection
Students are asked to:
identify data types
explain validation techniques
explain how code examples function (using repetition)
trace the flow of execution through nested selection code
Links to OCR J277:
2.1: interpreting algorithms, trace tables
2.2: selection, repetition, Boolean operators, arithmetic operators, data types
2.3: input validation
Data representation and impact of number of bits used
Overview of how the number of bits impacts on different types of data representation:
numbers
images
sound
text/characters
Can be used as a recap in preparation for OCR GCSE 9-1: J277/01 - 1.2 Memory and storage unit.
Covers how the number of bits used changes the range of numbers that can be represented and leads on to looking at the other types of data covered in the spec. Reminds students that #bits relates to #colours available for each pixel etc. Rather than the common “improves quality”.
Images, sound, numbers, characters.
Creative iMedia J834 mark book
This mark book includes columns for target data (including FFT50, FFT20 and individual target).
All conditional formatting is based upon a student’s individual target. If this varies, it is noted by red text in the column title.
The mark book is setup for units:
R093 - exam
R094 - visual identity
R097 - interactive multimedia product
Adapting for different unit choices should be straightforward. If you are struggling please message via the store.
Features:
Notes column for each unit and overall
Filtering is setup for viewing single classes or students of a teacher
See raw marks away from a student’s target
Notes:
For R093, the raw mark is used and this is scaled to give an overall / R093 unit grade
Columns H to S are grouped and can be shown / hidden by clicking the button above the column headings
