Year 5 Science Display

This resource is free but it did take me a lot of time. I would appreciate a book from my wishlist for my class to enjoy: https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/2Y2YZBJM6FYN6?ref_=wl_share I wanted to create a science display that can stay up all year and support retention of knowledge and skills. This display covers the 5 key areas for Year 5 from the National Curriculum. Two fonts I have used: https://www.dafont.com/humble-boys.font https://www.dafont.com/space-3.font Please tag me @primary_missp on Instagram or daniellelevi_p on Twitter if you use any of my resources. I hope they take some pressure off workload and most importantly, help the children in your class :)

UKS2 Working Scientifically Bottles

I have created these working scientifically bottles to support children in UKS2 in recognising the science skills they are practicing. I use these on my science display and ensure they are placed with easy access so I can take them down and stick them to the board, depending on which is relevant to the lesson we are doing.

The Land of Roar Author Word Mat

Encourage children to write like an author with this author word mat! While reading books, I note down adventurous vocabulary and sentence structures that the author uses. I then pull all of this together to make a word mat for that book, separated into sections: verbs, adverbs, adjectives, nouns and phrases to inspire children to write like an author. As the word mat is separated into sections, it makes it so much more accessible for children to use independently.

Key reading words from the curriculum and question prompts for guided reading sessions. I will use this display to aid me with my questioning during reading sessions and it will also help children become more familiar of the vocabulary linked to their reading. Aimed mainly at KS2 but can be adapted and used for KS1. I have uploaded a picture of my whole display for you to refer to. How to catch a niffler - instructions model text

A model text written for KS2 based around ‘Fantastic Beasts and where to find them’ that echos all the features of instructions. This model focuses on the ‘niffler’ who likes to steal anything shiny. I have taught this unit for the last 5 years and the children adore it.

KS2/Year 5 - Writing instructions guide

A guide I created for my Year 5’s, breaking up all of the features they should include into paragraphs. I stick this down the left hand side of their books and they write next to it, using it as checklist.
