This was designed for Y7-8 for Black History Month. The PPT contains several lessons of work, introducing Windrush with poetry and an inference square, and a homework research project, and then using sources on the Mangrove 9 to answer comprehension questions then complete a synthesis extended reading response. These resources were compiled from online sources.

Created for a Year 8 group. There are 3 texts on terrorism as a stimulus for group discussion. The ‘thinking hats’ sheet gets them to consider the topic from different angles and can be a useful preparatory tool before they complete a group oracy task. It can also provide a scaffold for less able students who can use the questions to structure the group discussion.

This is a one-page tip sheet for students to give them pointers on how to revise for GCSE Literature. Includes things such as learning quotes, going back over classwork, making essay plans, being familiar with Assessment Objectives.

I used this with a MAT Year 7 group who had been looking at extracts from Robinson Crusoe and Treasure Island throughout the term. As a group oracy task, they had to read the film pitches for both stories and then discuss which one to invest in, imagining they worked for a film production company. They really enjoyed the task and it allowed them to use a wide vocabulary when discussing the advantages of each story.
