History Happy Families Collection - OPEN EVENING

(0)
There are x sets of cards that I have designed to be used like the card game 'Happy Families'. There are 10 cards in each set that can be matched into pairs. One card from each pair has an image and the name whilst the other card has some bullet pointed information. This has been designed to be used at Open Evening to engage potential students and instigate conversation about what their historical knowledge is. They could be used as a topic starter in class, or edited to miss information out that students need to fill in, or as a template for students to create their own set. I will be printing them as A4 and laminating them but they could be printed as A3 for bigger display purposes. School logos could be added too. The sets are: WWI Civil Rights Movement The Tudors Crime and Punishment (all punishment) WWII Suggestions welcome - I will be adding 5 more sets as a second bundle once completed.

Hopefully you find it useful - please let me know if there is anything I can improve! I haven't added any animations as of yet. I will do this!

Literacy Mats - OCR Modern World B

(0)
I'm trying to encourage literacy within History and I'm hoping that these will help! I've create some literacy mats with the relevant content for OCR Modern World B Paper 1: International Relations 1945-75 Germany Depth Study I've found with my pupils (all boys) that becoming familiar with helpful phrases and the expectations ona regular basis really helps their understanding of how to reach certain standards. I've done separate mats for each topic because I the vocabulary is different for each one. I have combined all of the vocabulary lists onto one A4 sheet which could be given to each pupil for the backs of their books or printed off and held in a wallet on the same display board (almost like a resource centre). I'm hoping to laminate these in A3 and stick to the desks as they are in tables as well as put them on a literacy display board in the classroom. Please let me know if there is anything you could suggest to improve them!

OCR Modern World B - Key vocabulary

This vocabulary is helpful for the above course - specifically International Relations 1945-75 (Cold War). I have made these as simple display resources (hence different colours) but they could be easily amended as a revision resource.

Cuban Missile Crisis and Vietnam War A4 posters. Each poster has a brief introduction to the overall topic, with a relevant image and question about the image, followed by a quote with historical meaning. I have made these in line with the above specification - International Relations 1945-75 although I am sure they can be used/amended if need be.

HISTORY OCR Modern World B: International Relations 1945-75 - Cartoon Revision

(6)
For the above exam, a cartoon is given as the material for the first question - I have created a PowerPoint which uses all cartoons from the exam since 2010. There is a clear strategy to achieve full marks given at the start which I have found is easily remembered by many students because of it's simplicity. I have also attached a pupil version - it is my intention to print off PowerPoint booklets for the pupils for the revision session with certain parts missing to encourage their own feedback. Let me know if there is anything that could be done to improve or if you make changes that are successful - it would be much appreciated!
Homework Grid: Rise of Hitler

Homework Grid: Rise of Hitler

(1)
This is a differentiated homework grid which offers a variety of tasks around the topic of the Rise of Hitler – the students have the choice of which task they complete each week. I have used the theme of football leagues to appeal to boys. This can be printed as an A3 (or larger) display in class and as an A4/A5 sheet to be stuck in each book. It allows for easy homework setting and will hopefully encourage challenge for all! I have put that students must complete tasks of increasing difficulty. SMHW is a reference to ShowMyHomeWork which can be edited out if need be. Any suggestions or changes you make would be warmly received.

Medieval Heraldry - Coat of Arms

(5)
This checklist is to accompany a double lesson based on creating their own Coat of Arms. Depending on ability, can be a paired or single exercise. Medieval alphabet (A5) also a good accompaniment (some letters are missing - can challenge G&T to come up with their own.) It accompanies the PP also added - which can be adapted based on the source of information. The slides which depict specific Coats of Arms should be changed - this is useful to relate to pupils. This PP relates to the Folens textbook 1066-1485. Finishing of the activity would be presentation to the class.

This PP accompanies the Medievalbook A5 resource. Accomodates the Folens textbook but can be easily adapted with page numbers. The 'Ranks' sheet is a simple card sort for the starter activity. Works well if you demonstrate physical representation too (i.e. King standing on a desk > peasants sittig on the floor). Pupils to attempt filling in the missing rank on the hierachy slide.
