I therefore decided that I would try to help others and any resources I now produce I will put on here in the hope it saves others time, effort and energy... something we all have less and less of! A work booklet for students to use when going to the Yonex All England Badminton Championships at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham. The sheet ties in with the theory work covered in R051 and will help with the content of R054.
Keeps students focused on the visit.
An editable student work booklet designed to cover aspects of the R054 course that helps students understand the relationship between Sport & The Media. This will run alongside the teaching booklet to give students the necessary information to meet the unit requirements. A power point/ presentation has also been published to incorporate this information.
The work that the students do for this Unit needs then to be added into the also published R054 Evidence Scrapbook and R054 Media Case Study booklet to form the students complete unit work.

A differentiated orienteering activity that utilises 2 soccer pitches to create 12 separate differentiated challenges to test pupils map reading and orientation skills as well as their numeracy.
They have to follow a map to go to specific cones on the pitch to make a master total then report to the teacher to see if they have scored a "goal" by getting the right number. If so they move on to the next challenge. Teacher instructions and a lesson plan are included.
Requires some prior planning and preparation but once done an excellent resource to use time and again.

3 sheets of marking stickers (which could be edited) that are linked to LO2 of the OCR Level 1/2 National Certificate in Sports Studies R051 course. These are designed to save time, effort and energy in marking and to give students a clear idea of the standard of their work and a visual cue as to the standard.
They follow a RAG rating system used in Doddle but are also linked to the clear three marking bands used to assess the course.
Each sticker will therefore have the appropriate theory content and a RAG rating achieved by the students in each aspect of L03 - Hosting Sports Events.
These are in a template form for a sheet of 14 address labels so your reprographics department will be able to easily print and supply to you for your students books/folders.
A starter power point to use as part of a practical science lab based lesson bring the drug testing aspect of R051 to life in an engaging way.
Pupils are part of WADA and investigate 6 athlete samples of Blood, Urine, Nails and Hair to see who has taken drugs.
All resources together form a full resource. You just need to speak to your science technicians and make fake blood, fake urine, cut up some real hair and have fun!
With a bit of prior planning this works really well!

A place mat for drug testing station 2 nails test - ready to be laminated at A3 size - as part of a bundle of resources to deliver a practical drug testing lesson for that element of R051 which includes a carousel of 4 tests, one each for blood, urine, nails and hair.
This will pupils help keep the nail testing station in order.
A taster lesson to introduce pupils who are about to take their options to the OCR National Certificate in Sports Studies course. It gives the breakdown of the course and a sample lesson so that pupils can make a more informed option choice. This comes with an also published student worksheet.

A student log that can be put on the student share computer area for students to access and work through as a way of covering the expected activities to fulfil developing sports skills criteria. Students can work through and record evidence for LO1, LO2, LO3 & LO4 aspects of the course. They can import photos doing the activities to personalise the log. L04 will allow them to present the work necessary for that section where they have to detail practice methods to improve their own performance in an activity.

Here is a closing the gap (improvement task) for L01 in R051 - Contemporary Issues in sport. It looks at the assessment task regarding barriers/solutions for participation and will aim to help students improve on their exam technique in order to improve a prior score and therefore close the attainment gap. Can be used alongside my already published R051 L01 teacher booklet, student booklet and learning episode 2.

The sheet s designed with a key code so that you can simply highlight areas that are seen done well or are seen as areas for improvement and there is a chance to record decisions made and a staff comment. Ideal for use out on the field or in the sports hall that will then inform the follow up witness statements.

An excel spreadsheet that allows you to run an ongoing team competition in PE in core athletics lessons. By using a scoring system of 10, 7, 5 and 3 in each event based on Bronze Silver and Gold standards included at the bottom of the sheet pupils score points for their team based on their performance.
After inputting the score based on the athletic performance, the sheet works out average score per pupil per event, meaning that you can have an ongoing competition over a series of weeks and it does not really matter the size of the team or if a pupil misses an event as the average scores remain relatively close.
You can keep the scores updated and displayed on boards to encourage healthy competition.
We run this every year with year 10 boys and girls groups and it works well and ensures that pupils are motivated. We even treat the top few performing teams in a year group to a KFC meal. We added a column for correct kit on the boys one so took off points for any incorrect kit which led to peer pressure to have the right kit.
