Resources produced by an English Literature and Language teacher of eight years from North West England. All resources have been produced by myself. These resources include revision tasks and engaging activities for both Key Stage 3 and GCSE classes. After prominently teaching and marking the AQA exam board most of my resources comply with this curriculum. A debate heavy, thoroughly structured approach to the AQA English Language Paper 2 Section B question (Q5). Asks students to discuss the celebration of Christmas and whether this holiday encourages dangerous behvaiour. Includes resources from 2018 to encourage students to use facts, statistics and anecdote to support their own ideas. Also includes a model of argumentative writing and a structured framework approach to exploring this topic. Suitable for most non-ficiton English Language GCSE specifications.

Set of lessons (and a few extra tasks) with activities and a glossary for the short story ‘The Darkness Out There’ in the AQA anthology. Includes frameworks, model answers, GCSE style analysis, key terminology, context and information about the author. Encourages discussion and includes references to other Literature to allow students to make links within the short story text. Lessons are aimed at mid ability, can be adapted for others and mini scheme is easily rearranged at teacher’s discretion.

A short series of lessons which encourage students to explore John Cooper Clarke’s poem ‘Ode to the Coast’. Includes a matching game to identify language devices, an exploration of the poem matching these devices, model responses using a structured framework and a framework for students to follow to analyse phrases of their own choice. Intended as a KS3 ‘unseen poem’ exploration - with some guidance beforehand!

Theme Park speaking and listening, design and creative project.

Project (group) task usually used at the end of term. Students must design their own theme park, using ideas from research tasks and class discussion to inform their ideas. They produce a map, one key ride design, address a letter of complaint, write a point of view poem about their theme park and deliver a presentation to the group. There are also various extension tasks within the lessons (safety leaflets etc.) Could tie in well with homework too. 'Theme Park Project worksheet document is a workbook which could be used to store ideas and notes down any changes. Includes speaking and listening reflection. Lessons can be changed and order is not necessarily chronological.

Unit of work around William Shakespeare's 'Romeo and Juliet'. Used with a weak middle set Y10 during KS4 GCSE study and again for revision in Y11. Contains tasks around key scenes and questions for scenes to be used as prompts while reading. Page numbers match up with the Cambridge School Shakespeare edition of the script (2012 edition). Also included are links to BBC Shakespeare Unlocked programme of study - very accessible and has key activities which can be downloaded to support from: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/484GwDBByzcGTGCy5bvmhLF/romeo-and-juliet Prior knowledge needed and includes some creative tasks as well as reading. Reading of whole text is required and some scenes are discussion based. Could be used to support watching a page-to-screen version of play (RSC BBC production for example) and used to aid understanding through classroom discussion and activity. Easily altered and nice to dip in and out of - acts four and five are only summarised to support reading.
