Biomimicry is a fascinating topic that shows how nature has inspired great inventions and life saving medicines. We have created a selection of lesson plans and two PDFs of slides to share with your class. No one knows how many plant species we have on our planet, but they are the ultimate source of medicines for 75% of the world’s population. The natural world is a treasure trove of secrets, of ideas and solutions, worked out by plants and animals that have evolved over millions of years. By destroying animals, plants and habitats, humans aren’t just depriving the earth of interesting or beautiful things. We are, without question, losing important answers – amazing natural secrets that could, one day, save us all. This topic and many others around conservation, extinction and biodiversity are covered in our award winning, dramatised musical adventure Lost on Infinity. Co-written with BBC writer Steve Punt it is a hopeful and inspiring story with a particularly strong following in schools with over 5,000 educational establishments now using our materials for teaching ecological subjects. You can hear Part 1 (50 minutes) FREE on our website or as an app with visuals. www.rockfordsrockopera.com
