I have been teaching for nine years and I have a great passion for Early Years. I have been in Early Years throughout most of my teaching career. I honestly believe that children’s early experiences can shape them for life. I have a variety of resources and ideas for Reception/ Nursery aged children.

My First Day at School - Baseline

(0)
A simple baseline for Reception children to gain a quick insight into children’s developmental stage. Easy to complete. I use this baseline in the Autumn, Spring and Summer term to show progression (if needed, depends on child). I complete a different simple assessment for children that have progressed beyond this stage by the Spring and Summer terms.

Funky Finger Activities and Ideas

This Funky Fingers booklet offers a range of ideas to support the development of children’s fine motor skills. Over twenty simple ideas to use. The booklet also shows progression of children’s pencil grasps. I have included some sheets that I also use to support fine motor development. Children have to carefully follow the maze staying between the line. The sheets get more difficult.
Phase Two and Three Assessment Sheets

Phase Two and Three Assessment Sheets

(0)
Phase two and three assessment sheet. I use this to track the children’s phonic knowledge. I highlight in orange for autumn, green for spring and blue for summer to show progress (stated in the flags on the assessment sheet, colours can be changed.) The castle makes it a bit more fun for the children. There is a word to match each sound. I also teach ay, oy as the children seem to want to write words using these sounds quite often. They can be easily removed from the assessment.

Phase Two - at rhyming words

I use this resource to support my readers that are struggling. I feel that the rhyme and pictures helps to build their confidence when reading. I laminated the sheets and turned the PowerPoint into a flip book and I also send them home with children to read at home with their parents. I have received great feedback from parents. I have also used this PowerPoint by binding it together and then cutting across on top of the words to make it into a book where the children have to match the words and the pictures. I am offering the first one for free, but the set can be purchased at a discounted price.

The Story of One (White Rose)

(1)
White Rose Reception Resources - This PowerPoint explores the concept of one. It tells the story of a monkey looking for one banana. On his way he finds one of many different objects. The PowerPoint encourages children to join in saying the objects they can see one of. There are some activities to complete on the PowerPoint and ideas to explore the concept of one around the classroom. There is a also a song (sing along to the tune of the wheels on the bus) to support children to form the number one correctly. The first story is free of charge to give you an insight into what the story is about. If you like the resource and would like to purchase the set of five PowerPoints, you can for a discounted price. The PowerPoint includes number tracks that can be printed. The pictures used in the number tracks can be easily adapted with pictures to support your children’s interests. Early Years Inspired.

In Town - phase three/ four book

I use this book during my phonic sessions (applying phase three and phase four). I also use it as an assessment tool, if the children can read the collection of these books they have definitely met the early learning goal. I print them, cut them and staple them on the blue line. I also delete the words from the stories and encourage the children to write the sentences too. *other books available
