Engaging lessons can inspire your students to put in more effort, and my resources are designed to assist you in delivering stimulating, content-rich, and exam-oriented classes. These resources will not only aid your students in exam preparation but also foster enthusiasm for learning. Moreover, both Ofsted and your Head of Department are likely to appreciate these Lemov's "Teach Like a Champion''-teaching/learning style resources. /Background picture: pexels-anni-roenkae-2457284 edited/

Welfare State: New Right, New/Old Labour, Marxists, Conservatives, LibDems and you!

Welfare State, New Right, New Labour, Jeremy Corbyn, Theresa May, Marxism, British Politics 1945-2018. Brainstorming will help you differentiate - simply mix the more able/G&T with the less able students and ask them to work in groups. Add your exam Qs to the mix and you can easily turn it into 3-5 lessons! The resource has been updated again (May2018) and includes a lot of extremely helpful information now - I hope you’ll find it useful - any comments are welcome! I tried to avoid being too biased… :-) Enjoy! :-)

A well-prepared lesson (about 1-2 hours of classroom teaching). Should work fine with any major exam board. Linked to a short video clip, the material has been recently taught and should save you a lot of your own preparation time! An extended version (including the New Right and Marxist perspectives) is also available (as an extended, 44-slide presentation: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/resource-12560703 ). I will be really grateful for a review, even two lines will do - thanks in advance for your support!

Gender and Educational Achievement (AQA, but easy to adapt for other exam boards specs), including Internal and External Factors. 2-3 hours of teaching (17 slides), including a nice starter/do-now activity, a short piece of homework (writing a mark-scheme-based 6-marker, which can be easily differentiated and turned into a classroom activity lasting from 10-30 minutes, e.g. by using our students’ answers to peer-assess them on the whiteboard with other students’ active participation). A short (15 minutes, optional) video summary created by a third party added to the end of this content-rich presentation.

A series of lessons (about 3-6 hours of classroom teaching, 44 slides) with exam-oriented tasks you may easily tailor to suit the needs of your particular group, describing (focusing on both AO1 and AO2/3): The Functionalist Perspective, Neoliberal / the New Right perspective on education as well as The Marxist View. Extension tasks included, should work fine with any major exam board. Plenaries and example questions. Links to 3 short video clips (about 1.5-3 minutes each) included, plus a link to an AQA pdf booklet (available from them for free but you can still use it to introduce your learning objectives/see their progress throughout your lessons if your SoW is not AQA-based), thus it could be taught with effectively any AS/A-level Sociology textbook. The material has been recently taught and should save you hours of your own preparation time!

One of the TES reviewers wrote about its earlier, free version: This is a great resource - with really thought provoking material that will definitely get the students talking and help them to understand the different perspectives in UK today. Thank you SO much! This updated version (July 2023) is suitable for KS3-KS5 students, covering subjects such as Citizenship, Sociology, Government and Politics, and possibly History (Communism, Neoliberalism, Social Democracy and Thatcherism). It includes comprehensive coverage of main perspectives, a wide range of activities that can be very easily differentiated, as well as some valuable multimedia links.
