A card sorting activity using Simpsons images to test students knowledge of the plot. Students should cut the cards out and sort them into the correct order.

5 homework sheets aimed at helping students develop their skills in planning an answer for Language Paper 1 Question 5. Each sheet asks students to plan a list of powerful vocabulary (challenge to find synonyms to improve their vocab choices), a list of language devices and a list of the senses. Gothic style lesson focusing on Frankenstein’s monster. Includes a starter activity where students create their own monster by each designing a different body part. Students read an extract from Bob Geldof’s diary which sparked the song 'Do They Know It’s Christmas Time?, discuss the impact of the song and how persuasive writing techniques have been used. Students will eventually create their own piece of persuasive writing. Lesson planned using the TEEP structure.

2 x lessons on Charles Dickens’ ‘The Signalman’ analysing how language is used to describe setting. Aimed at a high ability year 8 class but can easily be adapted to suit other abilities/year groups. Differentiated using aim/challenge/super challenge and the GCSE mark scheme. Includes WAGOLL answer on main task. Lesson has been structured using the TEEP model.

A lesson using the sense to describe a journey to the moon. Students look at Neil Armstrong’s moon landing and a clip from Wallace & Gromit to plan their stories. Aimed at KS3b but can easily be adapted. Differentiated using the GCSE mark scheme. Lesson is created using the TEEP model.

A fun lesson introducing students to the language of Shakespeare. Includes a glossary for students to use to translate. Students translate Shakespearean words into modern English and vice versa.
