A KS1 assembly retelling the story of ‘Giraffes Can’t Dance’ by Giles Andreae. One pupil acts as the narrator (thouh this can easily by edited to add more narrators), then there are 6 other speaking parts. Every other child will wear an animal mask and perform in a short dance. The assembly includes full script, ideas to encourage audience participation and links to 6 songs and actions.
I also used these dances to inform my PE lessons, the children loved this.
This is a FUN assembly for an active class and welcome break to memorizing lines.

Assembly all about the romans, involves a lot of acting and has a line for each child. My year 3 class really enjoyed this and the whole school were interested in Romans the rest of the week.

The script has a literacy link of fairytales, IPC theme of castles and introduces the idea of inner beauty for PSHE.
It is a comedy version of Sleeping Beauty, appropriate for year 2 to year 6.
My friend borrowed this for her y6 leavers assembly and they loved it!
A rhyming assembly script about a little boy who keeps making mistakes in poetry. The script takes the boy into poetry land and explains what some poetic terms mean and allows the children to perform some poetry/songs.
Poems are included at the end of the script.
Appropriate for years 1 - year 4.

This assembly is based on the unit of work I completed with my class, therefore I’ve included a plan of what I completed throughout my lessons.
This was a great cross curricular topic and as you’ll see, I’ve included links to art and DT, literacy and ICT.
The assembly included an option between two songs and the words to a poem we performed.
There are also a number of templates to create jumping jacks, shadow puppets and zeotropes. The document marked zerotrope template was a great freebie from a childhood museum which has other ‘toy’ related worksheets and activities which I sent as homework.
I completed this summer term in a year 2 class, but to be hones at it is all about the work the children complete can really work from year 1 - 6.

Simple y2 targets, I send these home with parents at the start of the year and also circle two from each column during parent's evenings for parents to work on at home.
I stick a copy of each at the from of my children's books at the start of the year so they know my expectations for them by the end. In order to track their targets we highlight each box as s the achieve it, you can also stick a star on it and date it each time you are aware the target has been achieved.
This has made my life so much easier!
Very simple writing stimulus for the Roal Dahl story of BFG.
I have used this for my writing moderation from year 2 to 6.
It can also be a very simple homework for the kids.
This Julia Donaldson Assembly is appropriate for year2-year6/p3-p7. It involves a lot of dressing up as famous book characters and three songs. It was a lot of fun doing this assembly and encouraged not only my class but the whole school to love and desire to read Julia Donalson books. It also has links to these songs, lyrics, actions and a some costume suggestions.

This is a fun assembly script for ages 5-11! It introduces 5 mythological creatures via a fashion show ran by your class. There are speaking parts for 30 children, one song, a range of sound effects and costume ideas for each creature.
Mythological creatures include; a minotaur, dragon, cyclops, siren and Medusa.
Personally I laugh out loud at this assembly and children love doing it! It has some brief back story for some of the creatures and also highlights their physical appearance/skills in a more engaging way.

An assembly explaining phonics in a fun way. The aim is to have one class educate other classes or even parents on the basics of phonics. It briefly explains: phonemes, digraphs, trigraphs, blending and has some practical rhymes, songs and games to help demonstrate these. It was written with year 2/3 in mind but can easily be adapted to work for any class above year 1. I would also suggest this a whole school assembly with staff acting it out for parents/children.
I still meet parents who’s children have made it to year 6 and have not understood the basics of phonics or why it’s used within school. I highly recommend taking time to educate parents in phonics so they feel like they can help with homework etc.

An assembly all the world’s best snack. This class assembly looks at the cocoa bean’s journey to chocolate. It introduces the idea of fair trade benefiting farmers and communities.
It includes some acting and one song with a youtube link to lyrics and dance moves.
Appropriate for a capable y2 class and up.

This is a time capsule project adaptable to all ages! I’ve deliberately created the project to suit at home/in school teaching and to be FUN for the kids.
It is a positive way to teach and move on from time in quarantine.
It includes;
a powerpoint lesson on what time capsules are and looks through some famous examples.
a powerpoint with step by step instructions on how to create your own time capsule (for parents/kids at home or teachers in class).
a series of Quarantine sheets for young ks1 kids or ks2+ (Teachers may choose to only use the letter to a future generation template for older kids).
I am very excited to use this and suggest adding in a nice art lesson where kids can create pictures of how they spent lockdown or a symbol of this time (e.g. a rainbow).

There are 4 main ways to teach word classes with this resource:
An oral task with kids to help them understand the use of bossy verbs with them unaware of what the are meant to be drawing.
A set of instructions in which they must find bossy verbs.
A set of instructions in which they must find bossy verbs and adjectives.
A set of instructions in which they must find bossy verbs, adjectives and nouns.
I’ve used activities like this regularly to improve my classes listening, confidence in art skills and get used to positional language. I have used it for cross-curriculuum learning in RE when teaching Daniel and the Lion’s Den as well as science when studying animals.

14 images and song titles. Cut and laminate each them put them into a box or bag, shake it up and allow the children to choose one to sing at the end of the day.
I've done this activity with every year group upto y2 and they loved the independence of choosing the song.
Also great for EAL kids to develop language skills with the rest of the class.
Display this powerpoint at the end of a lesson.
It shows symbols used for self assessment and a range of sentence starters for pupils to record in their books for both self and peer assessment. The sentence starters are general and should be applicable to all subjects.
Saves a lot of time rather than recording red pen questions for individual children.
Differentiated writing task on what role you want to have when you grow up. I've used this as a homework, literacy and IPC task. A great into for a new class or for an intro into a topic about different jobs.
Short differentiated checklist of the punctuation needed to be learnt at the end of year 1. Assesses the pupils formation, understanding of the punctuation use and ability to put it into a sentence.
LA children may need to be supported, but the rest of the class can complete this independently. Also a great task to complete at the start of year 2 to check how much the children have retained from year 1.
