Designed for my Year 10 History class but it would be suitable for other high school year groups and other subjects than history (e.g. Science, Geography and English). Information and related activities and worksheet that look at the role of the Nile River in allowing Egyptians to settle and build their civilisation. It also looks at the various ways in which ancient Egyptians used the Nile.

It also explores Roman expansion and Hannibal and the Punic Wars and looks at 'big idea' concepts such as change and continuity, cause and effect and legacies of the past.

Explores Muslim religion and aspects of Islamic culture to debunk the myths. Explore the legacies of Islamic culture and the rights and some of the freedoms within the cultures of Islam. The aim of this information is to develop tolerance and understanding and respect for diversity.

Half yearly and yearly exams for Year 11 Ancient History that I have created and used. Relate to History, Science and Sources as well as Deir el Medina, Thera and Ancient Human Remains.

This is a simple instant lesson (requires booking of a computer room or student laptop access). A great purposeful activity at the end of the school year or instant lesson on short notice. Students research their answers with the reward of free time once completed.

Empathy task based around the Federation of Australia with a related research task (could be homework or a formative formal assessment task). Aimed at Year 9 NSW Syllabus "Australia 1901 to 1914" but adaptable to the new curriculum.

Year 12 HSC half yearly examination covering core topic "Cities of Vesuvius" + Ancient Society- Sparta + Personality in the times- Hatshepsut + Historical Period- New Kingdom Egypt to the Death of Thutmose IV. Related marking rubric also attached. This could be used as an a formal assessment task or exam or as a revision aid.

Worksheet activities relating to events surrounding the Cold War K19 Russian Submarine incident 1961. It can be used in conjunction with the movie "K19 The Widowmaker". An extension option also looks at other Cold War era events. Useful as an end of term activity for students who have learned about the Cold War. Includes historical concepts such as perspectives and interpretation, cause and effect and empathy. A nice extra discussion point at the end for capable students is to debate whether or not this movie is actually sympathetic toward Russian perspective or is in fact much more biased toward the American perspective (consider in view of the points on the sheet).

Suited to ALL subject areas (especially HSIE and English) for Years 7-12. Designed to enhance literacy and writing skills as well as spoken communication skills.

While aimed at Year 7, it is important foundational information for all students of History. Provided in both PDF and Word format (PDF so that everything is fixed in place to avoid the issue of images moving around + Word to allow those who might use the resource to make adjustments to suit their own classes and needs).
