I have several years of experience with working with underachieving pupils at KS3 level. I am a qualified scondary maths teacher. There are very few good resources for children who have little concrete learning of maths and I have made several resources which have helped to build childrens confidence in maths. The sheets are designed to give pupils the experience of working independently and the feeling of achieveing something which is a difficult topic such as percentages or algebra.

#### Rounding up to 3 decimal places

(0)
This worksheet allows pupils to practise rounding to the nearest whole number and up to three decimal places. The exercise is to allow pupils to practise the methods and to concrete their learning.

#### Solving two step equations.

(1)
The equations are designed to work with small numbers and to build students confidence with methods rather than big numbers. There is space for the working out so ideally the sheet can be glued into pupils books.

#### Easy Percentages worksheet

(0)
This is a sheet for those struggling with basic percentage problems. The numbers are easy to work with so the pupil can practise without struggling with number problems.

#### Find 10% and 1% worksheet for practise

(0)
This whole sheet reinforces the methods to find 10% and 1% with simple numbers and pupuils use mental methods. This sheet also allows practising 20%. It would be suitable to give for homework also. There is an opportunity forpupils to self assess and feedback to the teacher.

#### Find 25% 50% and 75% worksheet

(1)
This sheet allows pupils to practise percentages thoroughly and then self assess at the bottom for teachers marking.

#### Grid method for multiplication

(0)
These sheets allow practise for pupils to multiply from one digit up to three digits. The grids are drawn out for the pupils so the working out is clear.

#### Multiplication by partitioning

(1)
Pupils can practise multiply by 10,100 and 1000 also. They use patterns to learn concrete basic skills. This sheet can also be suitable for homework.

#### Solving equations

(0)
These are for confidence building and use small numbers so not to confuse the less able pupils.

#### Rounding decimal numbers up to 2 decimal places

(0)
Lots of practise for pupils to round decimal numbers to 1 deciaml place and then move onto rounding decimal numbers to 2 decimal places. This sheet could also be given as homework.

#### Marking feedback sheet for pupils books

(0)
This is how pupils can show progress and enables the teacher to record targets to be set and if the pupils can provide another example to meet the lesson objective. These sheets are to be cut and glues into pupils books.

#### Solving equations with unknowns on both sides

(0)
The sheet is designed for pupils to be able to build confidence in solving equations. There is space for the working out and to make progress.

#### Expanding brackets

(0)
Pupils practise expanding brackets. This sheet doesnt have any terms squared as its meant to allow stuedents to grasp confidently multiplying numbers and letters and to be able to write expressions after expanding.

#### Collecting like terms and substitution

(0)
Pupils can practise collecting like terms and then use fluency to then substitute numbers into expressions. There is a table to show working out and the questions are to check pupils understanding of algebraic expressions and to check their multiplication skills. Pupils may have grasped the idea of collecting like terms and can move onto the substitution part. This sheet is a chance for the less able to show progress.

#### Expanding brackets in algebra easy

(0)
The worksheet is in three parts of difficulty in order to give pupils the confidence to expand brackets. The sheet doesnt have any squares which allows the pupils to build confidence with setting out termsd and practising mulitplication. The first part is to ensure that pupils are confident in the way the expression is to be written out and taking care of the addition or subtraction signs. When this is marked, pupils can move on to the second stage. The students further practise multiplication and there is a third term in the expression. The final part of the sheet is where pupils ahve to add two sets of brackets added together. By this stage the teacher has given enough support to be able to give the pupil the skills to expand brackets with confidence.

#### Find 10% and 1%

(0)
Pupils build confidence in percentages. Teacher can choose to give pupils different parts of the sheet.

#### Solving equations

(0)
A sheets which provides pupils with space to do written working out. Pupils can check and mark each others work.

#### A Word Study

(0)
A sheet which can be enlarged which allows teachers to use in the classroom with large groups of pupils and is differentiated by outcome. The word study allows teachers to discuss meanings of maths vocabulary and is useful as a starter or a plenary. It is ideal for peer work and mentoring. It can be used for assessment purposes also.

#### Simple percentages

(0)
Pupils can practise working out 50%, 25% and 75%. Then the task is differentiated as the pupils progress down the sheet. The sheet is designed so pupils work independently and can follow a pattern when checking solutions. Pupils also find 10% of whole amounts so they are using decimal numbers. The plenary can be to discuss the methods of finding 100% knowing the value of 10%.

#### Percentage problems

(0)
This sheet is for less able students who cant see thier working out correcly or cannot see informations clearly. The table allows the child to see progress and methods. The sheet is designed to get more challenging.

#### Expanding brackets in algebra

(0)
The sheet is in parts of difficulty so students can progress whilst they build confidence also the teacher may want to give the final part for homework.
