'Don't Wake the Baby' EYFS and KS1 Christmas Nativity Play Script

A full and original Early Years/KS1 Christmas Nativity play script, which is ready to perform and can also be adapted to your performance needs. This play tells the traditional Nativity tale, but from the perspective of a lovable guard dog named Lilly. After Mary and Joseph arrive at the stable, Lilly is given the task of ensuring that the familiar visitors arrive quietly and that nobody disturbs the baby or its parents. With her determined approach, Lilly seems to have everything under control, but a gang of mischievous rats and the local brass band might still spoil the special event. This is a fun and educational story for the Christmas period, which is enjoyable for children to read and perform, as well as being straightforward for teachers to organise and direct. A back to school New Year special ! This pack is designed for teaching 1 to 2 English creative writing lessons at KS2. The topic is writing a short story with a New Year theme. The teaching PowerPoint contains a story opening for the class to read and analyse, followed by an independent writing task in which the children should continue and complete the story. Opportunities for the children to plan their ideas are also built in, allowing for the activity to be extended over 2 sessions. In addition, there is an optional challenge activity contained in the PowerPoint, as well as writing support sheets for any children that require them. All planning is also included in the pack. The flexibility of the activity means that I have been able to use it in Years 3/4 and in Years 5/6. This is a Year 6 PSHE and Citizenship lesson about valuing differences, which focuses on the ways in which people are different to each other and why it is so important to respect this. Children can discuss what being different means to them, before exploring some ways in which we can acknowledge and value people’s differences. An independent or group task is also provided to reinforce the learning from the lesson. The lesson is aimed at Year 6 but could also be used across upper Key Stage 2. It is fully resourced with planning and relevant supporting materials. The timing of the lesson is approximately 45 – 60 minutes, but, depending on your PSHE timetabling, it can also be easily split into a pair of thirty-minute sessions.
