The sliding filament theory is one of the trickiest and complex aspects of the A Level Specification. This resource breaks down the journey of the electrical impulse from the CNS, converting into chemical impulse at the synapse before causing muscular contraction due to the sliding filament theory at the muscle. This lesson will help your students to explore the concepts required for joint types, movements, planes and axis of movement. An interactive lesson where students work as a team to complete challenges and then reflect upon their own knowledge at the end so they can inform their own revision plans. Instructions are also embedded into the footnote of the powerpoint to help you teach each aspect of the lesson.

Great repetitive task for students to explore the cell organelles required for GCSE specification. Quiz, Quiz, Trade requires each student to have a card and stand in front of another student. Student A quizes Student B with their card, then student B quizes student A with their card and then they trade cards and repeat the process with a new student. Ideal time for task is 10 minutes but it depends on class size and how much you can trust them to stay focused. A great task for learning in an interactive manner.

Students are to independently research the posters which are spread around the room. Answer the key questions on each poster and use the video QR codes to assist. Students can then teach each other about diffusion and let you take the facilitator role within your classroom.

As a new Head of Year or as an assembly at the start of the academic year. Create your own short video with the instructions inside the PowerPoint and then follow instructions through the remaining slides. Used this several times and it is a fantastic way to make an impact on students and make them understand how their actions have consequences. Make the right choices early to create a positive learning pathway for themselves.

First assembly with a new year group. I started this assembly hiding out of sight. I ran in 2 minutes late, tie untied, shirt out, and my shoes were at the front at the stage. I got to the front and put them on. Then I stood up and pretended to get flustered, as if I didn't know what I was doing I then started the powerpoint about first impressions and expectations.
