This lesson is designed for GCSE (Edexcel spec). End Point: How do we calculate the speed of a wave? Success Criteria: Recall/use the equation relating wave speed, frequency and wavelength. Recall/use the equation relating wave speed, distance and time. Describe how to measure the velocity of sound in air. Describe how to measure the velocity of waves on the surface of water. This simple lesson gives students lots of practice calculating wave speeds using two different methods. I would follow this lesson with the required practical ‘Investigating waves’.
