I have attached my whole lesson for the technique of Tie Dye. This technique can be done with both KS3 and KS4 students. I have attached the whole powerpoint that I use which has a Do Now activity, lesson objectives, contemporary examples of which designers have used Tie dye their collection. It then has a slide that has all of the equipment you will need listed and health and safety considerations. This powerpoint also has reflection questions and plenary questions at the end. I have also included a worksheet that students can complete after they have finished experimenting with the tie dye techique. On this worksheet there is a a box asking them to write down the equipment they used, the method of the technique and then to reflect on their learning. The reflection questions are on the main lesson powerpoint.

A worksheet that can be used as a Do Now activity testing the students on the names of the tools they use on this software. I have also included a powerpoint slide which goes over the answers - all have animations on them so they come up one by one. I go over the answers with the whole class and students can peer assess eachothers work. It is also a great way to recap and discuss the main tools they will need to be using in the lesson.

I have uploaded the full lesson for you that has a starter activity and plenary activity. Starter Activity Lesson Powerpoint Step by Step worksheets Equipment needed for this I have also included a worksheet I created for a wood joint lesson on Finger Joints to help students make their own sample. This really helped with their independence in the class. I have attached two powerpoints - one has the equipment you need for the lesson and the other is a 2 page step by step (the preview doesn’t show both pages but it is attached). I have uploaded the ppt versions so you can edit this yourself.

I have attached a final evaluation template that could be adapted to use in various subjects. I have also attached a helpsheet that can be given to the students to help them write their answers. Both documents are word docs so can be adapted and changed to suit your needs.

I have attached three activities for students to complete. The first one is a natural and synthetic fabric research into properties and uses. Research focusing on Synthetic fabrics. Research focusing on Natural fabrics. I have added the powerpoint and word doc versions so you can edit and amend as you wish. Both worksheets are adaptable to enable students to research all different types of materials and fabrics - you could change the focus on woven, knitted and bonded.

It then has a slide that has all of the equipment you will need listed. This powerpoint also has plenary questions at the end. I have also included a worksheet that students can complete after they have finished experimenting with hand embroidery. On this worksheet there is a a box asking them to write down the equipment they used, the method of the technique and then to attach their sample of stitching. It also has the Do Now worksheet and the answers for the do now are on the main powerpoint.

I have uploaded the full lesson for you that has a starter activity and plenary activity. Starter/Do Now Activity Lesson Powerpoint Step by Step worksheets (pages 1-6) All equipment needed for this The step by step I have created is really great in helping students work independently in the class. What I normally do when I teach the students is first demonstrate to the class how to make a lap joint. I don’t explain to them how to do it but instead ask each student to read out the step to me. Once they read it out I then show them what to do - This works a treat! I have also uploaded the ppt versions so you can edit this yourself.

Here is a worksheet that I use when I want to investigate what the children already know about textiles. I use it in their first lesson and they are able to write down any prior knowledge they have on textiles. Its a great talking point about any projects they might have done before.

In this bundle for the sewing machine I have attached the following documents that help teach students how to use the sewing machine Lesson Plan - this has two different do now activities, links to how to set up the sewing machine, a step by step of how to thread the top of the sewing machine and how to thread the bottom of the machine. It also includes the equipment needed, an exension task and a presentation sheet for the stitched sample that is created by the students. Do now 1 - Sewing Machine Parts Worksheet Do now 3 - Sewing Machine Matching Activity Sewing Machine Step By Step - how to thread the top of the sewing machine and how to thread the bottom of the machine Extension activity - students use this to test their accuracy and stitch straight onto the paper following the lines Sewing Machine Sample Presentation Sheet that includes a peer assessing activity. Student samples are to be stapled onto this. I have attached all originals - powerpoints and word docs so that you can edit this yourself.

I have broken down unit 1, 2 and 4 completely and created success criterias for each unit. Each success criteria corresponds to the assessment criteria set by NCFE and explains how to lay out the work, what needs to be incorporated, an example of what it should look like and even has sentence starters for differentiation. This resource i created helped me so much and it allowed students to work with more confidence and be able to move to and from each success criteria. I have also included a checklist for each of these units and more detailed differentiated questions that students will need to answer.

I have attached a starter activity where I am encouraging students to recognise different bead types. This worked with my KS4 as they were then able to order exactly what type of bead they wanted for their final project as from this they knew the name of the beads they wanted. I have attached two versions of this starter, one in A4 and one in A5 size. There is a word bank at the bottom of the worksheet with the answers which students need to match up. The lesson powerpoint corresponds to this as the Do Now has the correct answers on. This powerpoint also has a contemporary examples of beading and a smalll step by step description of how to do it. Printable worksheet that allows students to design their own aprons. I print these sheet in A3 to allow students the space to draw interesting design ideas. All you need is some pencils and colourings for this activity!
