I have been teaching Science for 12 years now and the last 11 have been in British International Schools in Mexico and Spain. I have been an IB Diploma examiner for the last 9 years. My specialism is Biology but I currently teach Biology up to IGCSE and KS3 Science. Most of my resources are EAL/ESL focussed as the majority of my pupils do not have English as a mother tongue. This resource is a set of EAL worksheets for Biology for pupils aged 11-16. I have made these resources with a grammar focus, simplified language and emphasis of key words. The easiest sheets should allow pupils to match information about life processes only using underlined key words and pictures (very low English level). The activities are the following: - Cells cut and stick activity: Pupils have to match organelle name, function, what it is like, a diagram and photo. There are three different difficulty level. - Life processes glossary: There are 4 different difficulty levels for this glossary with words and definitions from the topic. Please note: image credit is given on the final page, make sure you don't print it!!

I made this for my low ability EAL Year 7 class who had NO PREVIOUS ALGEBRA KNOWLEDGE, AAAGH!! First they calculate answers to word problems, showing their working. Then they are given a structure to help them make the formula. Letters and numbers are highlighted to help with identification. Ties in to Key Maths 7 Chapter 9. Worked well with my class, they did everything on the mini whiteboard before writing on the book.

A powerpoint of all the common English very forms. Each page shows how to form that particular tense. Good as a prompt for EAL classes, I laminated them and the pupils have them on their desk to help structure their sentences.

I made this lesson to help my pupils improve their graph drawing and interpretation skills. It also helps them to understand the difference between correlation and causation. The lesson is based around an individual investigation into the correlation between two factors with other group/pair activities to assimilate the vocabulary.
