Lesson 2/5 on cold environments for the new AQA GCSE specification. This lesson looks at how cold environments can be developed with a case study area on the northern territories of Canada. This case study can easily be adapted if you are unfamiliar with Canadian geography. The lesson first goes over the location of the case study and then starts looking at how this area can be developed through mining, energy, tourism and fishing.

This lesson covers the location of cold environments, the similarities and differences between polar and tundra ecosystems as well as plant and animal adaptations- building off what students know of adaptations from the tropical rainforests unit.

Lesson 3/5 on cold environments as part of the new AQA GCSE specification. This lesson covers the challenges of development in the case study area of the northern territories of Canada. The lesson starts by examining a climate graph of a location in the case study area and from there linking climate to challenges regarding food, transportation, work and housing.

This lesson is an overview of the relief and landscapes of the UK. Students will be creating a map from their own memory then will be comparing to maps showing relief, geology and population to answer a series of differentiated questions.
