A handy, colourful booklet created to ensure pupils have something easy to revise from. They were asked to find key quotations for character/theme. Can be done each lesson whilst studying the novel or be given to them to do independently.

An engaging, fun and creative lesson for year 7 but can be easily adapted for all ages. Pirate map, pirate music, drawing, sharing, peer and self-assessing all within the PowerPoint.

A lesson which worked extremely well with a high ability year 9 class, who were focusing on the fiction section of the Eduqas exam. Can be easily adapted to suit different abilities. The lesson focuses on the pupils understanding the term 'unreliable narrator' and then reading key extracts taken from 'The Girl on the Train', 'The Yellow Wallpaper' and 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time'. The pupils had to choose which extract they wanted to read and identify in what way the narrator was unreliable. Great discussion came from this. They then had to imagine they were watching the unreliable narrator and create a descriptive writing piece focused on this. Examples included in the PowerPoint. My pupils ended up asking me if they could have copies of the books as they wanted to read more!

A descriptive writing lesson which focuses on the pupils imagining they are a soldier in WW1. Starter focuses on improving vocabulary through looking up what key words mean, then a short clip which allows the pupils to put themselves in the shoes of a soldier before they then begin to write their piece of work. High ability example included for inspiration for them.

A lesson focusing on what Oscar Wilde was like as a person. Pupils look at famous saying and epigrams and figure out what they mean, as well as what they reveal about Oscar Wilde himself. Worksheet included. Ideal for both KS3 and KS4 as a way into to studying any of Oscar Wilde’s work.

A handy resource which can very easily be used with both KS3 and KS4. Useful for a class who are struggling to vary their writing. I encouraged pupils to work together on creating an exceptional piece of writing. They roll the dice, move along the board game and take it in turns to add to their piece of writing.

A lesson which focuses on the difficult concept of a 'Play within a Play' and how the Mechanicals aren't the best actors etc. Lesson caters to both analysis and creativity and could go into two lessons if you want it to.

Two lessons. First lesson focuses on analysing structure and language devices used. Speed dating sheet included with numerous questions to force pupils to delve deeper into language. Second lesson focuses on pupils marking example responses that I've created and explaining what is good about them and what could be improved upon.

An interesting lesson which generated great discussions for the starter task. Main task includes reading the extract then speed dating comprehension questions before feeding back as a class. Deeper analysis and exploration of how this ghost differs to the rest.

This lesson enables KS4 pupils to successfully track Scrooge’s transformation from Stave 1 to Stave 5. They have to recall which stave each quotation was said in, link the quotations to specific and relevant context and then use the sentence starters and example essay to help them write their own. Perfect for a mixed ability group or for any class who need to focus on revision based tasks ready for GCSE.

A lesson which looks at context, key quotations and an analysis paragraph on the ghost. Used for the Eduqas exam spec but can easily be adapted.

A lesson great for KS3 & KS4 pupils. The lesson focuses on three small extracts about Nancy: Where she dresses up as a respectable lady to try to take Oliver from the jail Where Fagin convinces Nancy and Bill to go kidnap Oliver from Mr.Brownlow Where Nancy tries to stop Fagin from beating Oliver up The pupils are encouraged to focus on what each mini-extract reveals about Nancy, through also using quotations and analysis. The end of the lesson they are encouraged to debate why Nancy makes the decisions that she does, and whether she is a good or bad character and why.

A plot summary lesson which uses a range of skills: Numeracy starter Inference and deduction based on the image shown on the ppt i.e what will the play be about judging by the image? Listening skills, as well as taking notes at the same time. Plot summary sheet provided as well.

A lesson which includes a mini quiz with answers on Stave 2 and a worksheet centred on symbolism of Ghost of Christmas Past. My classes key ideas are included on the PowerPoint.

A lesson which focuses on Act 1 Scene 3 - the Nurse, Lady Capulet and Juliet. My class went on a 'Quest for Quotations' with the worksheet provided and were set off on the task of looking at one specific character before getting into groups and teaching one another. The second half of the lesson focused on an exam style question, with an example included that my class came up with. Worked really well with high ability but can be differentiated and split into two lessons if need be.
