A complete lesson to learn about different methods of contraception and fertility treatments aimed at a high ability group that has already studied the menstrual cycle as part of the AQA Biology 2017 specification (9-1). The lesson includes: - A lesson plan with timings - A presentation with learning outcomes and keywords - Starter quick review of menstrual questions - Infomation on contraceptives and fertility treatments - Role play activity for pupils to learn about these treatments - AfL worksheet + mark scheme (including extension task for challenge) - Differentiated individual task from AfL task - MS and guidance for self-assessment and improvement on individual task - Plenary review of learning - Challenge cards to present for pupils who need extension tasks as needed

A thinking frame to help pupils structure longer answer questions (4, 5 and 6 mark questions). The activity guides pupils through three steps that can be applied to nearly every extended answer questions and is particularly relevant to the extended writing focus of the new GCSE specifications. I have found it very useful with lower ability and/or under confident pupils that struggle to get started on these longer answer style questions. This frame provides an accessible start for pupils and allows them to reach the higher marking bands.
