Not My Holiday

(0)
Creative writing prompt for Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3. Could act as an extension activity for able writers, but also works for less able. Liven up the traditional “What I Did Over the Summer Holidays” by pairing students to write about each other’s holidays using carefully gathered sensory details via an interview, which they can then use to create a poem. Also good for teaching the vital creative writing skill of show not tell. Allow 10 minutes per interview, around 15-20 for putting the poem together. Poems can be shared at the end of the lesson or next lesson for critique.
