The idea is for your students to read the sentences and identify whether the phrase is past, present, or future. I’ve tried to keep the topics around free time and as generic as possible to aid revision. The 2017 advert for the Spanish Lottery was released in two versions. The short regular advert and the 20 minute short film. This is based around the 20 minute version. There is a comprehension activity for during or just after the film and it’s differentiated.

As the photo description is a large part of both Speaking and Writing in the GCSE I have prepared a game for students to help with revision. There are two versions: one if you have access to a colour printer, and one if you don’t and they don’t show up clearly in black and white. Work through the board from 1 to 30. Move as follows: 1 space for a word in Target language or a very basic sentence (e.g. in the photo there is…) 2 spaces for a sentence describing the image. 3 spaces for an extended sentence, an opinion, or a different tense. Variations: If you have more able students, they could act as a judge for the other players and decide whether it’s good enough to move on or not. You may want to allow a small help for Foundation candidates and from memory only for Higher candidates. You could add a rule that they cannot repeat what someone else has said. Or allow them to work in pairs to support each other. I’d also suggest a time limit on giving a word/phrase/etc. (10-30 second timer?) Otherwise they could be playing forever!
